My Dictionary - "W"

WAIT=braid and entwine; make a cord, entangle yourself with the Lord(see braid and renew)

WAITING – watching Me – waiting on Me – looked to the hand of God in all these calamities, not blindly shutting their eyes to
the true cause of the visitation  Zechariah 11:11

WAITING ON GOD - Waiting for God is not laziness.  Waiting for God is not going to sleep.  Waiting for God is not the
abandonment of effort.  Waiting for God means, first, activity under command; second, readiness for any new command
that may come; third, the ability to do  nothing until the command is given. (G Campbell Morgan)
--Waiting on the Lord is expecting His promised strength to help us rise above life’s distractions and difficulties

      How to obtain:
              1.  You must go after this walk with everything in you
              2.  Focus on knowing and hearing the Spirit.  Get your eyes off your trouble/temptation
              3.  Give much quality time to communion with Holy Spirit

WALL - There are pressures associated with being a wall.  When the enemy attacked, they shot arrows to kill people.  The wall
took many of the arrows.  God wants to raise up men and women who will take a stand regardless what it costs them, regardless
of the assault that comes against them.  they will stand true for what God says is true, and it will stand for righteousness and will
protect others.
--Speaks of the pastor developing the community within.  Safe boundaries.  Or it speaks of the prophetic raising up a wall of
demarcation, drawing God’s line of holiness, the standard of God.
--Ministries that provide protection are the pastoral or prophetic
--stability in our salvation experience as a result of our understanding and having faith in foundational doctrines upon

--(MG) If she already knows surrender of her own will and has confidence in Him (SOS 8:9)
•        A pastor; prophetic or pastoral ministries that protect the people from the enemy.  The wall speaks of the pastor developing
the community within safe boundaries.  Or the wall speaks of the prophetic raising up the wall of demarcation drawing God’s line
of holiness, the standard of God

WALLS - unrenewed minds and hardened hearts
--SOS 2:9 - speaks of ways where vulnerable to Jesus’ touch

WALNUT TREES - four characteristics of
      1.  Under its dense shade, the walnut tree provides a place of refreshing during the hot summer
      2.  The walnut trees were used for cleansing.  They were a main source of oil, which was used in make soap
      3.  These trees had fragrant leaves that were medicinal in value
      4.  Fruitfulness of its death -- the walnut tree must be broken before the food and oil can be extracted form it.  The walnut
grove is full of potential life, yet, it doesn’t come to feed anyone, or have economic value, until it is broken and dies
--The church is pictured as a grove of walnuts.  A walnut is a seed with life on the inside.  This walnut garden speaks of
the various ministries within the church.  They must also die to self in order to provide food, cleansing (soap) and shade for
others.  Their potential is only manifest after the seed dies or is broken open.  The life within is hidden and isn’t immediately
observable to the undiscerning.  Yet when the Lord breaks the seed open, it reproduces and it brings nourishment and blessing
to the people.

WARFARE - the appointed time of her misery  Job 7:1; Daniel 10:1

WASHING OF FEET - John 13:6-14, SOS 5:3 - a fresh cleansing from spiritual defilement

WATCH - being aware of the possibilities of temptation, sensitive to the subtleties, being spiritually equipped to fight it
•        It is anointed observation with the spirit of prayer (MB)

Watch your THOUGHTS; they led to
                                   WORDS
Watch your WORDS; they lead to
                                   ACTIONS
Watch your ACTIONS: they lead to your
    BEHAVIOR
Watch your BEHAVIOR; it leads to your
                                   CHARACTER
Watch your CHARACTER; it determines your
                               DESTINY

WATCHES - 1st watch - sunrise + three hours
              2nd watch - 9 a.m. - noon
                  3rd watch - noon - 3 p.m.
             4th watch – 3 pm - 6 pm

WATCHING – three areas to watch:  carousing or dissipation, drunkenness, and the cares of this life.  Carousing or
dissipation refers to living your life aimlessly, wastefully, spending your life resources with a party spirit.  The Lord says that
living this way will weigh your heart down.  You will get dull, and in the hour when your heart heeds to be most vibrant and able
to respond, your love will be cold and you will be easily offended.  Drunkenness refers to mind-altering escapes; cares of this
life are your money, your position, and how you fit into the scheme of things.  Each of these things can weigh down the heart
and kill the flame of spiritual passion within.  (MB)  Matthew 24:44

WATCHMAN - Isaiah 62:6-7 watchmen on walls, day and night (24 hour prayer/worship).  Saying “Lord remember Your
promise”.  In Jerusalem watchmen on the walls as Jerusalem is the praise of the whole earth.
      = elders or spiritual authority/leaders
--climb to top of mountain and explore boundaries God has given them - proclaim release into being
--Ezekiel 3:17 - in Old Testament prophets often called watchmen.  Had two functions:
              1.  Watch out for enemies
              2.  Watch out for kings, nobles
                      --shut the gates
                      --open the gates
Lord still sneaks up on us.  Some call anything that moves the enemy.  We have profound lack of discernment.  We have
suspicion.  Discernment can only function through love and compassion.

      Three positions of watchmen:
              1.  On wall (Isaiah 62)
See things happening in and out of city, never kept silent, intercession vital to all ministry
              2.  Make the rounds (SOS 3:30)
See what’s going on with the Body; called out the times
              3.  On the hills of Ephraim (Jeremiah 31:6)
Assigned to be out in the world and foresee what enemy is doing
One of most essential things now is define our callings and ministries and not violate others or our own spheres.
Watch and pray -- not watchmen because we want to but because it is assigned.  God has to establish our credibility.  #1 cause
of confusion is selfish ambition (James 3)
•        Watchmen are in peril of death from the enemy, who gain their point if they kill the sentinel; and yet they dare not quit
their post upon pain of death from their general.  Such a dilemma are the church’s watchmen in; men will curse them if they
be faithful, and God will curse them if they be false.  The work of a watchmen is to take notice and to give notice (MH)

WATER - a hardened heart is pictured as a heart that has no water (Isaiah 1:30)
      --Holy Spirit or humanity/masses
--under water - deep tings of the Spirit

--the obstacles and pressures of everyday life (SOS 8:7)
•        In prophetic language signify people and generally people in a state of political commotion, here signified by the term
‘roar’; mountains – the secular rulers – tremble, for fear that these popular tumults should terminate in the subversion of the state

WATERS (quenching waters):
      1.  Disappointment
      2.  Cares of this world and deceitfulness of riches
      3.  Accusation and condemnation
      4.  Temptations
      5.  Prosperity

WATERS & SEAS - often signify troubles and afflictions (Psalm 42:7)

WATERSPOUT - wind moving on water.  It is the Spirit of God moving on humanity (Psalm 42:7).  The wind sucks certain
things up and throws certain things out.

WAVY HAIR - hair of a young man in prime of life as opposed to an old man who has thinning hair and lost vitality and fullness
(SOS 5:11)

WAYS (God’s ways) - Exodus 33:13 ...let me know Thy ways...
Israel knew what God did - His acts
But God made known His ways to Moses
Moses knew why God did it
Know His ways - perceived and recognized; became progressively better and more experimentally and intimately
acquainted with them
David in Psalm 139:17 “I know God’s thoughts”
MM - principles are “ways”; 219 out of 221 times in Scripture, ways = Gods ways. Principles produce character; people
are not their behavior.
--His ways = His testimonies - how He handles His devout ones who love Him--mighty acts of intervention on behalf
of the saints (how He parted waters, fed manna, raised dead)
--the way of the Lord does no take the easy way (RJ)

WEAK - let the weak say I am strong (Joel 3:10)

WEAKNESS (Voluntary) - to consciously submit to a place of weakness out of conviction before God.  Voluntary weakness
is a rare yet essential dynamic of spiritual maturity (MB)  Voluntary weakness:
-Refuse to take advantage of those who will do anything for you
-Refuse to direct people using your spiritual authority
-Do not use your position of power and influence to battle enemies
-Do not use anger and strife to pay back those who oppose you
-Refuse to manipulate in ministry with hype or pretense
-Refuse fleshly exhibition in showmanship and theatrics and use modesty
-Embrace weakness in how spend money
-Continue fasted life style in midst of economic prosperity

WEANING - a weaned child is one who has allowed the parents to shape his appetites.  When our hearts are set upon
lofty, ambitious desires that are too profound for us, God withholds from us the very things we desire.  At first we’re frustrated
because we’re convinced our high aspirations are part of the God-given vision to which we are called.  Our frustration
turns to anger and then to heartache.  Throughout the entire process, if another brother attains what we wanted, envy
crouches at our door.  If the Lord withholds from us long enough, however, eventually we will stop craving the thing we
once desired.  Once our hearts are settled in the portion God has given us, we are said to be weaned.

WEDDING - Jewish wedding:  (1) betrothal (then don’t see again until wedding--I‘m going to prepare a place); (2) taking
of bride, (3) wedding feast (seven days)

WELL - stored up source of supply; capacity to store; draws on past history in God

WEEPING - weeping is a gross waste of energy (DO)
--weeping is a part of grief process.  When you refuse to weep you end up in rage and anger (MC)

WEIGHTY WORDS – beware lest we try to understand the life and nature of the Lord with our old life and nature.  Being so
full of the flesh we cannot utter weighty words.  Even if we say them, there is no power.  We voice them only when we get
angry.  This is what our old life and nature is.  How different it is with the Lord!  When He says these weighty words, He is
not angry at all.  He could say these things and still pray.  Thus it proves that when voicing such strong words, His heart
was still full of the love of God.  His fellowship with the Father had not been interrupted, and His heart continued to be
filled with thanksgiving.  (Nee)  Matthew 11:20-24

WHEAT - those who say “yes”
      --harvest
•        We need to understand that tares look like wheat, but are noxious.  It is almost impossible to tell the two apart
except at the harvest.  They are easily distinguished at the harvest because the wheat begins to bow over, while the tares
remain upright.  We might say that with increasing maturity the wheat becomes more humble, and the tares become more
arrogant.  RJ

WHEEL = Gilgal; our heart circumcised
•        There’s fiery wheels.  This was a revelation about the throne of God that the prophet Ezekiel which was a contemporary
of Daniel, in Ezekiel 1:15-21, Ezekiel describes the wheels that are related to the throne of God and the wheels speak of
the unfolding – the outworking of God’s divine plans.  God unfolds His plans with zeal and with great energy at the
emotional level.  His plans are unfolding – steadily, according to divine wisdom through the course of human history.
Man is exercising his option for sin or for righteousness but God is overruling the rage of satan and the sin of man to fall
into His own divine plan for the final outcome.  The wheels – the outworking of His kingdom, the outworking of His authority,
are ablaze with divine zeal as well.

fasting--in many dimensions not just food);spiritual dullness only confronted in context of the violence of fasted lifestyle.

WICKED - heartless and inhuman in their dealings with their fellowmen.  “ra” - to break in pieces, destroy, and afflict;
meaning persons who broke the established order of things, destroyed and confounded the distinctions between right
and wrong, and who afflicted and tormented both themselves and others.
•        Almost exclusively used for those who should know better.  It is those who profess or should have every reason to
know God and are yet, by intent, acting wrongly.  That is wickedness.  (AK)

WICKED WAYS:
      Unforgiveness
      Anger towards others
      Irritability
      Seeking of revenge
      Backbiting
Sowing strife and division among brethren
Gossiping in the form of “prayer requests”
Withholding comfort and encouragement from those who have offended you
And then rationalizing and justifying having done so

WILD BEASTS         - SOS - the world
Because in the imagination of the soul that begins to tread the path leading to God the world is pictured as wild animals
threatening and scaring her.  The world frightens her principally in three ways:
              1.  It makes her think she must live without its favor and lose her friends, reputation, importance, and  even wealth.
              2.  It makes her wonder how she will ever endure the permanent lack of the consolations and delights of the world
and all its comforts.
              3.  It makes her think that tongues will rise up against her and mock her, there will be many remarks and jeers
and she will be considered almost worthless (JoC)

WILDERNESS - place of testing - involuntary (props removed)  <-->place of Divine encounter-voluntary (allow so can
receive)   (David 7-8 years, Joseph 7-8 years, Moses 40 years)
      --life in this fallen age
      --difficult times of intense testing
      --time of failure and sin
--time when sin and flesh wage war
      --season of spiritual warfare
      --place of encounter with God
--I (Graham Cooke) have had nine wilderness experiences.  I didn’t enjoy the first one because I was in there for the wrong
reasons.  You either go into the wilderness because you are stupid or you go in by god’s invitation.  The wilderness is a
place where God takes you when you’re full, and then He makes you empty.  So the baptism of Jesus - heaven opens -
the Holy Spirit descends in bodily form, God shouts out His approval “this is My Beloved son in Whom I am well pleased.”
The next thing that happens, off into the wilderness.  The wilderness is a place where God takes you when He’s happy
with you.  It’s a place of no distraction.  It’s a place where you and Him are together.  Intimacy in the wilderness,
captivated hearts drawn into solitude in order to receive kindness and the nature of God.  One thing is needful -- it is
the Mary and Martha paradox -- Mary has chosen that good part.  Martha, sweetheart, you’re just too distracted.
--Wilderness between Egypt and the Promised Land revealed the condition of their hearts on the inside.

WILDERNESS:
      1st stop:  Marah
              Bitter waters
First thing after salvation is you have to deal with bitterness
Bitterness the natural maturation of being offended or hurt
              Bitterness is the after taste
Something has happened but you still taste bitterness
God showed a tree - made the waters sweet
Can’t make a disciple without dealing with bitterness
      2nd stop:  Elim
              Place of authority
12 wells of water 70 palm trees
A place of rest and refreshment
              Types of government, authority, eldership
12 gates are points of power
Live and find as a rest in authority
Order and government in the fabric of cosmos
              It’s your covering
              70 elders helped Moses
              70 sent after 12
      3rd stop:  Wilderness of Sinai/Sin
              Spiritual warfare
That is why God had them number “men of war/ those who can fight”
              Fight in wilderness
              Battle against sin
Israel could dress for war but no stomach for it
They wanted to lose heart and go back to Egypt
His process to mature us in the wilderness.  We are not to colonize the wilderness.  God “brings us out” to “bring us in”.  We
are purchased with a purpose.

These two wills formed a cross in heaven before ever was one on earth.
= lips = kisses - with affection that which it loves
      --the ability to make decisions
--His will - the only appetite God wants in His dwelling place is the desire for the perfect fulfillment of His will and the
carrying of the Cross of Christ.
•        The delight of heart, and that certain pleasure, in the law, which does not look at what the law promises, nor at what
it threatens, but at this only:  that the law is holy and just and good.  Hence it is not only a love of the law, but that loving
delight in the law which no prosperity, nor adversity, nor the world, nor the prince of it, can either take away or destroy;
for it victoriously bursts its way through poverty, evil report, the cross, death, and hell, in the midst of adversities, shines
the brightest.  Martin Luther (TOD-Psalm 1)
•        Will is a free principle (AC)

WILL OF GOD - If will to do God’s will, He will tell you His will.  Have to sign a blank page first.  John 7:17

WILL TO HEAR - spirit in control, is the degree of hearing
--degree soul in rule (mind, will emotion) is degree of lack of hearing
External causes dried out because of over-commitment
Substitute tapes, videos, conferences, radio for waiting on the Lord

WILLING - my self-life no longer controls my desires and actions

WIND - the Spirit
•        Blast of Your nostrils – used figuratively for the wind  Exodus 15:8
•        “four winds of the earth” are the four great powers that have swept over the whole earth which have brought
sweeping and profound changes on a civilization-wide basis.  These are 1) military power, 2) religious power, 3) political

WINE MAKING - When the grapes (harvest) is crushed, it is very important that the seeds do not get broken or cracked as it
makes the wine bitter.  The harvest is called “the crushing”.

is glorious.  To know that we loved Him deeply for many years is a gift from God that we will be able to cast before Him in eternity.

WISE MEN - give wise instruction for life/counselors

WISE VIRGINS - kept vessels filled with oil of the Holy Spirit

WITCHCRAFT - any attempt to control another human
--counterfeit spiritual authority used to dominate, manipulate or control others
--Greatest example of witchcraft is King Saul
              1.  When Saul saw enemies gathering and people scattering, he caved in to the pressure
              2.  He disobeyed God by taking authority that he did not have
              3.  Usually happens when start getting into an area of responsibility that God had not given to you
•        Counterfeit spiritual authority.  It is using any spirit other than the Holy Spirit to manipulate or control others with.  This
can be done to accomplish our own purpose, or even a noble purpose, and even something we feel called to do for the
Lord.  We may wonder how someone would try to use witchcraft or soul power to accomplish the works of God, but many
try, which has caused some of the worst spiritual disasters in church history right up to the present.  A noble purpose
does not justify evil means.  Tacking the Lord’s name onto a project does not mean that the Lord is behind it.  RJ

a little bit of it.  But the word of my testimony I am giving to you right now.  It is a prophetic oracle of what God is saying
and doing right now.  My testimony is what is on the heart of Jesus – Revelation 19:10 – the Spirit of prophecy is what is
burning in His heart.  It has been assigned to me in that season – that is my testimony.  It is the oracle of the Lord in my
spirit.  That is not the whole of our testimony – but it is the testimony that we proclaim it and defeat him.

WORK (OUR)
--believe on Him who he sent (John 6:29)
--to suffer for you; finish up remainder of Christ’s sufferings for His body, the Church - Colossians 1:24
--good and acceptable in sight of Lord: 2 Timothy 1:1,2
--supplications, prayers, intercessions, giving of thanks:  for all men and those in authority
      --fast - Isaiah 58:6-8
--to walk in authority and faith
--careful to maintain good works and meet urgent needs -Titus 3:8,14
      --avoid foolish disputes   Titus 3:9
--reject a divisive man after two warnings Titus 3:10; Matthew 18:17
--be subject to rulers and authorities
      --obey
--be ready for every good work
      --speak evil of no one
      --be peaceable
      --be gentle
      --show humility to all men
--The Greek view of things was in separating spiritual and physical things - sacred and secular - time and eternity.  The Bible
does not separate these things but means a division of life in very practical areas.  Our attitude to daily work has been
profoundly effected by Greek thinking that said work was a necessary evil and the least you can do the better.  The more
leisure you have the better.  They bought slaves to do the work.  There is no teaching about leisure in your Bible.  There
is a part about going aside and resting but nothing about the vast leisure industry of today.  Work was intended by God.
And it doesn’t matter what work you do to God as long as it is not immoral or illegal.  It’s your sacred calling, your holy
vocation.  God would rather have a good taxi driver than a bad missionary.  We need to get back to what Martin Luther
said “All work ranks the same with God.”  This attitude of separation of spiritual and physical has profoundly effected the
attitude towards sex which God made long before sin got into the world.

WORKS - the greatness of the work we accomplish will be measured by our annihilation of ourselves for God in the sensory
and spiritual parts of our souls.  When we are reduced to nothing (before man and before God with no spiritual help or
consolation), the highest degree of humility, the spiritual union between our souls and God will be an accomplished fact.
This union is the most noble and sublime state attainable in this life.  The journey, then, does not consist in consolations,
delights, and spiritual feelings, but in the living death of the Cross, sensory and spiritual, exterior and interior.  JoC

WORLD - those who are influenced only by the desire of the flesh, the desire of the eye, and the pride of life
--in Old Testament meant Jewish people
      --Matthew 7:6:
              1.  Brothers
              2.  Sinners (dogs) - will bite and tear you
              3.  Swine (nominal church members) - trample underfoot
•        World – normal word for ‘age’ or ‘era’
•        The human system that opposes God’s purpose (NIV)

WORM – your peculiar remorse for the evils you did and for the grace rejected.  To the Jews, worms and fire represented
both internal and external pain.

WORMS in the earth = humility

WORRY - The difference between worry and genuine concern:  worry immobilizes, but concern moves you to action.
All anxieties are vain.  Fear does not glorify God, and anxiety disgraces Him the most.

WORSHIP - is sensual.  Jewish people feel, smell, taste, etc. in their worship
--expresses in some appropriate manner what you feel
--The central issue in tribulation is worship.  God and the devil are seeking worshipers.  Time and again the line is
drawn between those who “worship the beast and his image” and those who worship God.  The outcome of every man’s
life shall be weighed upon a scale of worship:  to whom will we bow, God or the devil?  ....Will we faithful worship God
during satanic assault and temptation?  ....No man will worship through the great battles of tomorrow who complains in the
mere skirmishes of today.....The Lord’s call to Israel was a call to worship and serve Him.  At first they “bowed low and
worshiped” and when trials came they fell into murmuring, complaining, and blatant rebellion. (FF)

WORSHIP (kana) = to bend the knee, hence to humiliate, vanquish.  (Praise is raise the hands; worship is bend the knee)
--true worship can heal any wound (RJ)
--doing His will with our life

WORSHIP WORDS - Twelve in Revelation:  Power, Riches, Wisdom, Strength, Honor, Glory, Blessing, Thanksgiving, Might,
Thanks, Salvation, Honor & Glory

WORTHY - trained to be equally yoked to the King of Kings.  Trained to where her character is in full agreement with His.

WRATH - exasperation, fury, indignation
--retaliation for wrongs or perceived wrongs
--man’s wrath is of two kinds:  one is righteous, the other is selfish; most get angry for their own selfish reasons.
•        Jealous – intolerant of all that prevents His people from enjoying the blessings His love provides; wrath is the obverse
of holy love. (Z)

WRESTLE - by persevering in prayer and fasting

WRESTLING – How Jacob wrestled:  with prayers and tears – they were his weapons  Genesis 32:24.  Did not prevail – this
discouragement did not shake his faith, nor silence his prayer.  Genesis 32:25.  A divine wound that wounded and healed
at the same time.  Genesis 32:26

WRITTEN MATERIALS - if can’t make it out, God doesn’t want you to remember it

WRONG THINGS - “many of the wrong things I did for the right reasons” (RJ)
