Why Israel Should Matter To Every Christian Pt. 1

Many Christians do not fully understand why we should be praying for Israel. There is knowledge of Israel but without
understanding as to how it fits in the prayer room culture. To know and understand Israel is to know and understand the
heart of God!
I. Israel matters on a personal and relational level with the Lord.
1. God loves Israel - If we love the Lord, we will love what He loves. Lev 26:11-13… 12' I will also walk among you and be
your God, and
you shall be My people.
Zeph 3:16-17… He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.
Zach 2:8…He who touches you, touches the apple of His eye.
2. Israel helps us to know and understand the Bible as well as the Lord Himself.
a. Everything we know of God is through Israel- His love, faithfulness, kindness, etc- If you don’t understand Israel, you
don’t understand the Bible.
b. To become a Christian you read a Jewish book, written by Jewish men, about a Jewish nation and the God of Israel
and a
Jewish savior to the world.
c. We honor Israel, God honors us Gen 12:3 (Easy as 1-2-3)
And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will
be
blessed."
II. Israel matters on a prophetic and practical level for the Church’s future
1. Severe consequences for not recognizing the miracles of God and times of visitation.
Matt 11:20, 23-24… Then He began to denounce the cities in which most of His miracles were done, because they did
not repent… 24
"Nevertheless I say to you that it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for you."
Luke 19:41-44 …43 "For the days will come upon you when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, and
surround you and hem you in on every side, 44 and they will level you to the ground and your children within you, and
they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation."
2. Last Days preparation for the Church
1 Cor 10:11…Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom
the ends of the
ages have come.
Matt 24…signs of the Lord’s coming paralleled with the Torah
Matt 24:4-5; 10-11 " See to it that no one misleads you. 5 "For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and
will mislead many… 10 "At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another. 11 "Many false
prophets will arise and will mislead many.
Num 16:1-3 Korah’s rebellion with 250 leaders
Num 16:41-42 (after God destroyed Korah’s rebellion)
a. People still grumbled because they were still misled by Korah
• V12 12 "Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold.
Heb 3:7-9 "TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, 8 DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS
• V. 24 24 "For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if
possible, even the elect. (Pharaoh’s magicians in Exodus)
• V 27-31 Son of man comes at the end of the age
Ex 19:16-19…. The Lord descends at Mt Sinai
• V,37-40 "For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah.
• V. 46-51
48 "But if that evil slave says in his heart, 'My master is not coming for a long time,' 49 and begins to beat his fellow
slaves and eat and drink with drunkards; 50 the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him
and at an hour which he does not know, 51 and will cut him in pieces …
Ex 32:1… Israel says the same as the evil slave
V6… Israel acts like the evil slave
V 26-28… 3000 men die like the evil slave
3. Regathering Israel and the return of the Lord.
a. The re-gathering of Israel sets the stage for the return of Jesus. Ancient prophecies are being fulfilled in our day as
a message to the
nations!
Ezek 28:25-26…. Gathers Israel in the sight of all nations, they live securely and God judges the nations that scorn Israel
Ezek 36:35-36… The nations see Israel flourishing (Read ch 36- The Bible says that the land flourishes under Israeli
sovereignty)
Ezek 37:21-23;28… Israel will return for the nations to form 1 nation and the nations will see it
Ezek 39:27-29… The nations will know that God scattered Israel and He has brought them back. And will not leave any
behind.
b. Currently there are almost as many Jews in the US as in Israel. At some point, conditions in the US will become
unfavorable for Jews
and this will dramatically change. Many moved to Israel due to the stock market crash
Jer 16:14-15… Exodus from the 4 corners will be greater than the Exodus from Egypt
c. By 1960, over 2 million Jews lived in Israel- this had been fulfilled in the last 50 years
Zech 12:2-3… "It will come about in that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it
will be
severely injured. And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it.
Zech 12:9-11… God will fight for Israel and open their eyes d. (time of world war against Israel, time of Israel’s revival
and
salvation)
Zech 14:3-5… The Lord returns to the mount of olives to fight for Jerusalem
e. Israel is a miracle of God in the Earth - it is the time of His visitation - we must recognize it!
Isa 66:8…- Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Can a land be born in one day? Can a nation be
brought forth all at once? YES it already has!
In the days ahead, if Christians do not see Israel as God’s miracle to the world, we will be sadly behind the times and
uninvolved in the end time move of God. We cannot fail to recognize the time of God’s visitation and signs to the nations.
We must cultivate a heart for Israel for the days ahead to have an opportunity to be dramatically involved in these last
days!
