LAST HEARING BEFORE PILATE:
    (preparation day of Passover - Wednesday) - around 6:00 - 9:00 a.m.

       Place of condemning specified:  Judgment seat in “The Pavement”
      Date:  Preparation Day of the Passover (a day to purge out old leaven)
      Time:  Sixth Hour (or third)

Pilate sits on judgment seat - in judgment hall
Calls leaders together and says he finds no fault in Him.  Says Herod sent Him back uncondemned.
      
Wife sends a message to him telling not to have anything to do with Jesus

Goes out to chief priests and crowd and asks what to do
      Tells crowd there is a custom to release a prisoner.  Asks “Who do you want released?”
      Crowd encouraged by priests and elders to say “Barabus”

Has Jesus scourged - in armory - whole military unit called
      Soldiers twisted a crown of thorns and put on His head - may have intended just to ridicule, not torture
      Stripped Him (maybe to waist); or mantle (upper garment)
      Put a purple robe on Him
      Put a reed in His right hand - or rod
      Bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him - jeered
      Say “Hail, King of the Jews”
      Strike Him with palm of their hands; spit on Him; took the reed and hit Him on the head
      Put His own clothes back on Him

Pilate back in Judgment Hall

Presents Him to crowd
      He came forth willing to be made a spectacle
      Pilate says “Behold The Man”
      Crowd says “crucify Him”
      Pilate asks “What evil has He done”
      Elders say He blasphemed.  Pilate didn’t know this charge and became afraid.

Has Jesus brought back into Judgment Hall

Tries to question Him again
      Pilate asks Jesus “Where are You from?”.  Pilate states he has authority.  
      Jesus says “You have only the authority given by God.”

Goes out to crowd again
      Leaders say they will report Pilate as committing treason

Washes his hands; says “I am innocent of the blood of this Person”
      People say “Let His blood be on us and on our children” - They were asking that the blood of love become a blood of judgment

Brings Jesus out
Goes to judgment seat and condemns Jesus.  Signs warrant for crucifixion  and pardons Barabus
Barabus released (to intimate sinners released)
Delivered to be crucified  9:00 a.m.(delivered up that we might be delivered)
By Law of Moses prosecutors were to be executioners

Note:  Lots of moving from place to place for Jesus.  He had no sleep, was beaten, no food or drink, scourged and bleeding, no restroom facilities.....
