• Essence of their sin (Genesis 2), in part, at least, was the transference of control of their lives from God to themselves.
God had, in substance, told them they could do anything they wanted, except that “one thing”. It was a test of their
obedience. In spite of God’s command, they did that “one thing” and made themselves their own master.
OPEN - to open the door is to surrender the will to Christ, with an invitation to Him to come in.
OPEN DOOR (Jack Hayford)
When Jesus comes to reveal Himself:
1. There is an open door
--John called to step into a door beyond human perception
--We usually look for a way out
--but there isn’t a door out - step into the door into the presence of God - where things are different
--a door “in” - in to His presence
--Brought to a vantage point of the future
--Call to the “open door” is a call to see beyond the moment
2. There is a trumpet call (to get our attention)
--don’t do that “come up here”
--God may call to you to a new time
--a new time calls for a readiness and responsiveness
3. There is an invitation to insight
--Come up here and “I will show you things”
--I also want to show you “a thing or two” (both ways)
--”Behold” “Look” “Wow”
“Ado - Idon” = to see = “I see” - perceive, understand
--a call to perceive
--I see and want you to see
--I saw a throne/ an unshakeable Kingdom. When all in my life is shakey.
