LAMP - (shining) John 5:35; 2 Peter 1:19 = prophetic word
• Smoking furnace – signified the affliction of Abram’s seed in Egypt
• Burning lamp – denotes comfort in this affliction
• Destruction of their enemies who kept them so long in the furnace
• Together the light denotes deliverance out of the furnace and the lamp denotes direction in the smoke God’s word
was their lamp; a light shining in a dark place
• Union of love though in the darkness of faith
• In the heavenly city the Lamb is the lamp thereof – Revelation 21:23

LATCH OF DOOR - door of heart (SOS 5:4)
LATTICE - His presence in some measure veiled
--see “windows and lattice”
LAW - Bible is a law book
--universe operates on laws: spiritual and natural
--law of faith
--law of sin and death
--people in whose heart is My law Isaiah 51:7
--for law will proceed form Me Isaiah 51:4 --My law Isaiah 51:7
--The Law is God telling people what He is like; we can never be like Him
--First law of the Kingdom is obedience p148 Worrell
--the law of the Scriptures is not given to us to be kept, but given to us to be broken, that the inability of our natural
self might be exposed and sin might be magnified.
• Law – divine revelation (AC)
• Law given on Mt. Sinai (external laws) – New law given at Sermon on the Mount (internal laws – added to the previous)
• Consistent principle (MB)
• The law was the way of life for the redeemed, not a way of salvation for the lost (NIV)
LAW OF THE HARVEST - When we plant, we harvest. Until we plant, we will not harvest. It is about harvest and the
multiplication of the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God expands by the sowing of seeds. The result is that no matter
what you give, more will be given to you.
LAW OF SPIRITUAL GROWTH - “Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him”
LAWLESSNESS - Mystery of is that you don’t recognize you are doing it. That’s the mystery. Deception so deceived

--(tower of) = discernment; like a tower that guards the kings property from the enemy
--symbolic of what is glorious, stately, pleasing and honorable
LEECH - a person who does not pay the price of prayer to sustain his own life, and perhaps fails to maintain emotional
or mental hygiene and discipline as well, who therefore sustains himself by drawing on the strength of others.
LEFT HAND – conceal what is done as much as possible
LEFT HAND OF GOD - the invisible activity of God (SOS 2:6)
--indiscernible activity - It is the hand we can’t see (MB)
• Left hand - This is the invisible activity of God. The left hand of God is away from your view and out of your sight
because it is behind your head; therefore, you can’t see it. It speaks of the activity of God in your life that you cannot
see. The invisible activity of God in your life is a very important expression of God’s love for you. God is withholding
and releasing events that you can’t discern.
LEGALISM - tells us that our commitment produces God’s commitment back to us (It is His work in us - Phil 1:6; 2:13)
• Legalism pride (when accomplish) or
• Legalism condemnation (give up and say you failed)
LEISURE - The Greek view of things was in separating spiritual and physical things - sacred and secular - time and
eternity. The bible does not separate these things but means a division of life in very practical areas. Out attitude to
daily work has been profoundly effected by Greek thinking that said work was a necessary evil and the least you can do
the better. The more leisure you have the better. They bought slaves to do the work. There is no teaching about leisure
in your bible. There is a part about going aside and resting but nothing about the vast leisure industry of today. Work
was intended by God. And it doesn’t matter what work you do to God as long as it is not immoral or illegal. It’s your
sacred calling, your holy vocation. God would rather have a good taxi driver than a bad missionary. We need to get
back to what Martin Luther said “All work ranks the same with God”. This attitude of separation of spiritual and physical
has profoundly effected the attitude towards sex which God made long before sin got into the world.
LEOPARDS - demonic activity (SOS 4:8) (Psalm 76:4)
LEVITES - weapons of wrath
--fruit of Levites carried by children
LIBERTY - The greatest liberty we will ever know is when we know that we are known from above
LICENTIOUSNESS – license to do whatever
• taking “liberties” to live in compromise and live in ease. (MB)
LIE – What is a lie? It is any action done or word spoken, whether true or false in itself, which the doer or speaker wishes
the observer or hearer to take in a contrary sense to that which he knows to be true. It is, in a word, any action done or
speech delivered with the intention to deceive, though both may be absolutely true and right in themselves.
LIES - see Pride
• The act of swearing suggests the presence of lying
• He who is disciplined in word learns to make his word the same as fact. If your word is more or is less than the fact,
you have already commenced down the pathway of the lie.
• By only slightly altering your speech, your word comes from the devil. How very serious it is to use the mouth of a
Christian to utter the word of the devil. This shows how important our speech is.
• Lying puts one outside the kingdom
• False witness – if truth, holiness, and love, which God requires in the inward parts reigned as they ought there
would be no false witness bearing
• Blasphemies – speaking evil of God, speaking evil of our neighbor. These are the overflowing of the gall within
• Anatomists have observed that the tongue in man is tied with a double string to the heart. And so in truth spoken
there is necessary a double agreement of our words … We must speak as we think, and our tongues must be faithful
interpreters of our mind; otherwise we lie, not speaking as we think. So what is truth in itself may be spoken by a man,
and yet he be a liar; namely, if he does not think as he speaks. Though we think a thing to be so, which is not so, we lie,
when we affirm it; because it is not as we say, though we really think it is so. For our mistaken notions of things can never
stamp lies to pass current for truths. (TB)
• If I love the world inordinately, it is a thousand to one I shall be often stretching a point to promote a worldly interest;
and if I hate my brother, it is the same odds I shall reproach him … The tongue follows the inward inclination … I should
often think of the severity of a future judgment when every secret shall be made manifest, and the hypocrite and liar
exposed before angels and the men (BB-1728)
LIFE - Your life is hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3)
--we walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7)
LIFE (YOUR) - You have to let go of anything you are holding for security, let go of anyone you are holding on to for
security, and you have to receive the people and things in your life as gifts from God and let Him keep on giving them or
let Him take them away for your good and His glory. Let go of anything you are clinging to that is blocking you from Him,
the source of all security, the source of all identity, the source of all riches, love, knowledge, truth, and beauty. The only
appetite God wants in His dwelling place is the desire for the perfect fulfillment of His will and the carrying of the cross of
Christ.
LIFETIME - 70 years – symbolizes a full measure of time, a lifetime Isaiah 23:15 (HCBH)
LIGHT: Outer court - natural light (sun); entertainment (man to man)
Inner court - Minorah (candle); attention of God (man to God)
Holy of Holies - Shekinah Glory (white/bright); God sings back to you (prophetic)
--The sunlight operates externally, irradiating all that it reaches
--Light is not heard, it can only be seen. Light will shine - even without any speech.
--Light = good works. The act of shining is actually the nature of God being manifested in my life; it is not I myself.
The shining before men is a recognition that we are Christians -- that we belong to Christ.
• 1 timothy 6:16 – who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see
• Ken Copeland: Einstein’s theory of relativity (if approach speed of light no one can see you). Enter into eternity.
Speed of light difference between natural and supernatural.
• Light exposes whatever exists (Revelation 1:5 LB)
• Urim means lights – Exodus 28:30
• Light and darkness – eternal life and death - Isaiah 59
LIGHTNING: The Lord looked forth – metaphorical for lightning Exodus 14:24
LIKE - founded upon it, and flows from it
LIKENESS - outward appearance (Nee)
LILIES - corporate church; white dress of Bride
LILY - purity; pure white innocence
• Lily speaks of saints among the world of sin (SOS 2:2)
• The lily perfectly preserves its purity and its perfume even when surrounded by thorns SOS 2:2 (MG)
LILY OF THE VALLEY - a flower of death and suffering
LINEN - fine white = the perfect man
• Linen is a vegetable substance and wool an animal substance. Wool is more apt than linen to contract dirt and breed
insects; linen breeds none. It was an ancient maxim that whatever was taken from a dead body was impure in matters of
religion, and should not be permitted to enter into the Temple. (AC)
LINK - a movement (SOS 4:9); a new area of dedication
LION – Judah is compared, not to a lion rampant, always tearing, always raging, always ranging; but to a lion couchant,
enjoying the satisfaction of his power and success, without creating vexation to others: this is to be truly great –
Genesis 49
LIONS - demonic activity
--white horse, face of lion - 1 Chronicles 12:8
LIPS - verbal communication/speech
--the will (the will kisses with affection that which it loves)
LISTEN - The word “voice” also means the Lord listens
--The Lord basically listened to three things:
1. Those who fear His name and speak in that way (makes a book of remembrance)
2. Listens to prayer (often the agony of lifting up petitions)
3. Complaining (let us not be like Israel who murmured in the desert; opens the door for the destroyer to come
LIVER – the essential organ for telling the future in the pagan cultures surrounding Israel and was strictly forbidden in Israel
• Thought to be the seat of emotions by Jews – Lamentations 2:11 (JFK)
LIVING CREATURES:
Face of an Oxen - God as the Wonderful Counselor and suffering servant (SOS 1:8-11 and 5:2-7)
Face of a Lion - God as the Prince of Peace and Sovereign King (SOS 2:8-9 and 3:6-11)
Face of a Man - God as the Heavenly Bridegroom expressing the heart of the Everlasting Father (SOS 1:12-2:7; 4:1-15:1)
Face of an Eagle - God as the Mighty God and the Consuming Fire (SOS 5:10-16; 8:6-7)
Lion - king of beasts - Book of Matthew reveals Jesus as King
Calf - a serving animal - Book of Mark reveals Jesus as Servant
Man - bears burdens - Book of Luke reveals Jesus as Priest before God
Eagle - high/symbolic of God - John reveals Jesus as Diety
• It is noteworthy that the four faces of the living creatures (Ezekiel and Revelation) are symbolic of the “four portraits
of Jesus” as given in the four Gospels. Matthew represents our Lord as the king (the lion), Mark portrays Him as the
Servant (the ox), Luke emphasizes His humanity (man), and John proclaims especially His deity (the eagle)
LIVING ROOM – between your ears (BJ)
LOCUSTS - internal decay
• Symbols of human foes
LORD’S DAY - Had to raise a hand and say “Caesar is Lord” once a year. Then throw incense on an altar fire and it would
ascend as a prayer to the emperor. The day everyone had to do it was called “The lord’s day”. John was in prison on
“The lord’s day” - this annual worship of the emperor day. It was not Sunday. The three words that Christians were
inspired to say was “Jesus is Lord” and for that they were put in prison. They would not say that of anyone else. (Pawson)
LOSE – the opposite of ‘find’ and means to not follow one’s own desire Matthew 10:39
LOVE: “eros” - one-way love seeks self gain, carnal and sensual
“phileo” - love reciprocated; two-way love
“agape” - sacrificial love; one-way love; outgoing, selfless, looks for nothing in return
--each must start a lowest level where first found and climb step by step
--opposite of love is lust
--Love is.....grave
--It burns...flame
--Many waters....away
--The unsurpassed worth of love ... if a man would give
--These are four wisdom statements that characterize love as the strongest, most unyielding and invincible force
in human experience.
Wise men were concerned about practical and philosophical matters (NIV)
--What is love? Love does not consist in great delight but desiring with strong determination to please God in
everything. Not primarily a feeling. A strong desire of the will which He gives to be pleasing to Him in everything and for
asking Him for the advancement of love and glory
--A desire to please Him, help others, and advance the Church
--We must strip ourselves of the desire to stay bound up in others -- that is, in our striving to have others love and
esteem us as we believe we “must” be loved by them.
--I love (Laodicea) - philo - the love of gratuitous affection, independent of any grounds for esteem in the object loved.
But in the case of Philadelphia - egapesa - with the love of esteem founded on the judgment.
--Have to love for the sake of loving others and not to meet our needs. As love purified, it becomes more passionate.
Become more inclined to give than receive. Real love receives other people as a gift and relates to them as how God
loves them. Love with a holy freedom. When holier the more you are sociable.
--Jesus asks Peter a few questions. I had planned to make you the first pastor of My church, but you let Me down so you
can give out the hymn books. He didn’t say that. he didn’t say He’d put him on probation for a few years. Or He didn’t
say you’ll have to go to purgatory for a thousand years. Just said “Do you love Me?”. And Peter refused to use the word
“love”. He said “I’m very fond of You”. “Do you love Me more than these others?” “You know I like You so much.” “You
only like Me”. “You know everything Lord, I’m not going to lit to You”. Then feed My sheep. Jesus is not interested in a
live, active church that is doctrinely sound. It’s how much do you love -- that is what He’s after. (Pawson)
--(FF) there is no such thing as love without commitment. The measure of your love is found in the depth of your
commitment. Every time you refuse to forgive or fail to overlook a weakness in another, your heart not only hardens
toward them but also towards God. you cannot form a negative opinion of someone and allow that opinion to crystallize
into an attitude (1 John 4:20). Unconditionally love God; unconditionally love others.
--Love - one of the main signs that both Theresa of Avila and John of the Cross give as a signpost along the way that
we are growing in holiness is that we are becoming less and less afraid. We are becoming more and more free. We are
becoming less afraid of suffering, less afraid of death, less afraid of failure, less afraid of what other people think, more
confident and joyful in the Father’s love, more able to love, more able to worship, more able to serve, more able to
sacrifice, more able to be faithful, more able to suffer. It is because love is growing. Love is taking over. Love is
possessing us.
• Love does not ask for a reason to love; nor is it affected by the other party, nor does it change with time
• Love without prayer is undependable. Inside is love, and outside is prayer before God. Pray for their forgiveness;
pray that the Lord will not require retribution on those who persecute, whether now or in the coming age. Pray that the
Lord will bless them. (Nee)
• Love transforms obedience from legalism into an expression of personal commitment (Z)
LOVESICK - from an opposite cause than through excess of delight at His presence; now excess of pain at His absence
(SOS 5:8)
LOVING GOD
• He loves God with all his heart who loves nothing in comparison of Him and nothing but in reference to Him, who is
ready to give up, do, or suffer anything in order to please and glorify Him
• He loves God with all his soul, or rather “with all his life”, who is ready to give up life for His sake – to endure all
sorts of torments, and to be deprived of all kinds of comforts, rather than dishonor God – who employs life with all its
comforts and conveniences to glorify God in, by, and through all
• He loves God with all His strength who exerts all the powers of his body and soul in the service of God; who, for the
glory of his Maker, spares neither labor nor cost; who sacrifices his time, body, health, ease, for the honor of God, his
divine Master; who employs in His service all his goods, his talents, his power, credit, authority, and influence
• He loves God with all his mind (intellect) who applies himself only to know God and His holy will; who receives with
submission, gratitude and pleasure the sacred truths which God has revealed to man
• Love – not phileo – but agapao – the commitment of devotion that is directed by the will and can be commanded as
a duty – Matthew 22:37
LOYALTY - motivation of hear; the one you serve you want to bless; look out for needs of others; covers the one who
betrays you
LUCIFER SPIRIT - don’t like the life God gave me
--Isaiah 14:12 - “I will”
--Lucifer wanted to “be” God
--Lucifer was a chief archangel
--Said in his heart:
I will ascend to heaven
I will raise my throne above the stars of God
I will sit on the mount of assembly in the recesses of the north
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds
I will make myself like the Most High
--T. D. Jakes 6/98
--satan only involved in downward motion. Jesus said ‘i saw satan fall...”
--satan uses you against you-he has no power over you-God gives us power over him. Luke 10:17-20
--It didn’t say nothing will attack or come against you - or bite you - but nothing will beat you. You can be biten but
still not beaten.
--Praise brings presence. Lucifer wanted promotion in praise, not presence.
--If presence isn’t enough for you, its an insult to God.
--When seek positions, everything harms you, you become vulnerable
--Reason you keep getting hurt is because your agenda is too healthy
--Can’t harm a dead man
--God will give you anything you don’t rejoice in - if its not important to you.
--Demons can be tormented - in presence of God - bring in God’s presence
--Benny Hinn 6/98
--There is a foe whose hidden power the Christian well may fear. More subtle far than inbred sin, and to the heart
more dear. It is the power of selfishness, it is the willful eye, that ere my Lord can live in me, my very self must die.
-Romans 7:24
-Jeremiah - the heart above all else is most wicked
-Power of selfishness
-You are your chiefest enemy, your biggest problem, self is more dangerous than satan.
-Kathryn Kuhlman said: I don’t fear the enemy, I fear myself.
LUKEWARM - caused by the fatal danger of self-sufficiency - self-praise in self-acquired riches
LUKEWARMNESS - the worst state that any Christian can ever fall into. The reason for the lukewarmness of the
Laodicean church was because they had everything they needed. Things really can be the greatest distraction from
our ultimate purpose. God loves to give His children good things, and he commanded a lot more feasting than fasting,
but we must guard our heart against idols, even those things that have been given to us by God.
LUMINARIES – created on 4th day and by them count the years of the world (Cracking Code)
LUST - opposite of love
--trying to dominate out of insecurity, the lowest depth to which love falls because of sin (RJ)
• Basically a desire to fulfill needs by inappropriate mans
• Desire – my lust – my soul – which in Hebrew psychology is the seat of desire, here for vengeance and plunder
Exodus 15:9
• The conscience baffled or biased: biased if it say nothing against the sin; baffled if it prevail not in what it says
LYING – PRETENDING TO NOT UNDERSTAND THE CHARGE. This is a species of lying which we are more prone to than
any other, because in this a man is not easily disproved Matthew 26:71
