--anything that becomes a substitute, or takes the place of the Lord in our lies
•        Anything you have to check with before you obey God

IDOLATRY - worship of false images, and that is precisely what happens when we keep our fantasies, worries, and joys to
ourselves and do not present them to the         Lord of our hearts
--looking to a source other than God for my deliverance
--a god is someone you look to to deliver you                        --prime principality over Kansas City (3/02)
      --based on Jezebel (Bill S)
--wrong ideas about God are not only the fountain from which the polluted waters of idolatry flow; they are themselves
idolatrous.  The idolater simply imagines thins about God and acts as if they were true.                  (Tozer)
--a libel against the character of God; assumes God is other than He is and substitutes for the true God.
--the idolater imagines things about God and acts as if they are true.
--essence of idolatry is the entertainment of thoughts about God that are unworthy of Him
•        It is idolatry to claim your interpretation of God’s Word is as important as God’s Word itself
•        A sin between man and God and is equal to all sins combined (JP)

I, EVEN I – I MYSELF – God makes known the certainty of a thing

IGNORANCE - The guilt of ignorance:  Because they are guilty for not knowing what they are doing.  Forgiveness is only
needed for the guilty.  Nobody can forgive an innocent person.  That’s why all this talk these days about forgiving God is
so wrongheaded, indeed, I would say, blasphemous if you really mean it.  Forgiveness is for the guilty.  So when Jesus
says, “Father, forgive them,” he means they are guilty.  Then when he says, “For they don’t know what they are doing,”
he must mean, “And they should know what they are doing.  And they are guilty for not knowing what they are doing.”  In
other words, they have so much evidence of the truth that the only explanation for their ignorance is they don’t want to
see it.  They are hard and resistant and have a guilty blindness.  That is why they need to be forgiven.
•        Romans 11:20
    Ignorance

    Arrogance

    Apostasy/Deny the Faith

ILLEGITIMATE - generational curse of illegitimacy is ten generations

IMAGE - inward nature and character (W Nee)
--tselen = resemblance, shadow, reflection (we reflect God’s image)
•        We think in images – that is the language of the human spirit – images. (MB)

IMAGE OF GOD – (JF&B) And in what did this image of God consist?  Not in the erect form or features of man, not in his
intellect, for the devil and his angels are, in this respect, far superior; not in his immortality, for he has not, like God, a
past as well as a future eternity of being; but in the moral dispositions of his soul, commonly called “original
righteousness” (Ecclesiastes 7:29)

IMAGINATIONS
Definition:  the act or power of forming/creating a mental image of something not present to the senses or never
before wholly perceived in reality; creative ability; ability to confront and deal with a problem; creation of the mind, fanciful
or empty assumption

God speaking.

IMMEDIATELY – one day to three years

IMMORALITY (spiritual) to use the Lord to draw people to us instead of to the Lord
--rooted in rejection rather than rebellion

IMMORTAL BODIES - resurrection bodies can cook breakfast for unresurrected bodies

IMPATIENCE – when you wear the weed of impatience in your heart instead of the flower Acceptance-with-Joy, you will
always find your enemies get an advantage over you.  (Hinds Feet)

IMPURITY OF HEART - the cause of all error - arises from the love of earthly and carnal things

IN THE SPIRIT - I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day  - Revelation 1:10

o        Return of passion when dream; a cause, a motivation; a thirst we can’t quench

•        A sin that became a habit you didn’t conquer

INNOCENCE - In her innocence Eve belonged to God completely, but she withdrew from God...God comes and draws us out
of our old life.  He cleanses us and         gives us back our innocence (MG)

INSANE – Confused in mind but not in will.  The affected element in an insane person is the mind, while that in a demon-
possessed person is the will.  So insanity is in the realm of the mind, whereas demon possession is centered in the realm
of the will – although sometimes even in a demon-possessed person his mind may also be confused.  Insanity is basically
a sickness of the physiological brain.  The derangement can be quite fierce, and even at its dormancy it may not be
completely healed.  Insanity is a physical illness.

INSANITY – fear in the hearts that actually cause impairment in thinking – based on the root of fear
•        Insanity is birthed from a root of fear.  A form of delirium is distinguished through words and actions that we would
not normally consider.  A lack of sound judgment provides options that we would ordinarily shun or not even give
consideration to

INTEGRITY - God places a high value on integrity.  Integrity in the heart.  Can have wrong ideas of God in head but God
can correct your head.  Job 2:9

INTENTIONAL SIN – grows out of an improper attitude toward God (LB)

INTENTS - motives

INTERCESSION - hit the mark (sin is missing the mark)
-        requires us to become identified with the problem to pray it through.  Born of the Spirit and operates through inner
travail
-        In my opinion, this is why so many prayers for revival seemingly go unanswered.  Those who pray for the outpouring
of the Holy Spirit often are not willing to stand in the gap and plead and “travail in soul” to call forth God’s mercy; they are
not willing to agonize in spirit for the reclamation of sinners, the salvation of souls, and the spiritual welfare of the place
for which they pray.  As Bartleman lamented in 1905, “I found most Christians do not want to take on a burden of prayer.
It was too hard on the flesh.”  (p. 14)  A great revival came forth in Los Angeles in 1906 because men and women of God
stood in the gap and fought for the spiritual life of the city.  They lifted up a great cry to heaven and would not settle for
anything less than the fullness of the Holy Spirit in their midst – no matter what it cost them personally!  But the spiritual
imbalance of the region, that very fact that they were so diligently calling for the blessing of God on the land, brought the
wickedness of San Francisco to the fore the way Abraham and Lot exposed the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah to the
justice of God.  Ostensibly, there was no intercessory ministry in San Francisco formidable enough to plead for the
spiritual life of the great City by the Bay; consequently, the very prayers that brought the flame of revival to Los Angeles
brought disaster to the City of San Francisco.  If “the fervent prayers of a righteous man availeth much”, then one Elijah,
one Abraham, even one Lot in San Francisco might have made all the difference.

INTERCESSOR - responsible to gain his objective, and he can never be free til he has gained it.  He will go to any length for
the prayer to be answered through himself.  But once a position of intercession has been gained, tested, and proved, the
intercessor can claim all the blessings on that grade, whenever it is God’s will for him to do so. (RH)
-men and women who will lay their lives on the altar to fight the devil, as really as they would have to fight the enemy on
a war front
-a soldier at the front has no say in where he goes and what he does; he cannot take holidays or attend to the claims
of home and loved ones as other people do.
-Become bondslaves to the Holy Spirit for every creature and throw your life into the gap (Ezekiel 22:30).  He will give
the victory and avert war.
-there is a death in an intercession which has to precede the resurrection, and the test on the intercessors as to
whether they can walk through their valley of humiliation, of apparent failure, with an unmoved  faith.  The very thing
believed for may not come to pass but that apparent failure may only be a steppingstone to greater victory.
•        Men and women who lay their lives on the altar to fight the devil, as really as they would have to fight the enemy
on the western front.  A soldier at the front has no say in where he goes and what he does; he cannot take holidays or
attend to the claims of home and loved ones, as other people can; and the Lord was telling them that if, as really as that,
some would become bondslaves to the Holy Spirit for every creature and would throw their lives into the gap.  (R Howells)
•        There is a death in an intercession which has to precede the resurrection, and the test on the intercessors as to
whether they can walk through their valley of humiliation, of apparent failure, with an unmoved faith. (R Howells)
•        In the light of His purity, it was not so much sin we saw as ‘self’.  We saw pride and self-motives underlying
everything we had ever done.  Lust and self-pity were discovered in places where we had never suspected them.  And
we had to confess we knew nothing of the Holy Ghost as an indwelling Person.  That our bodies were meant to be the
temples of the Holy Ghost we knew, but when He pressed the question, ‘Who is living in YOUR body?”  we could not say
that HE was.  We would have done so once, but now we had ‘seen’ Him.  (R Howells)
•        In His nature He was just like Jesus – He would never live for self, but always for others.  We were people who had
left all to follow the Savior, and had forsaken all we had of this world’s goods to enter a life of faith, and as far as we knew
we had surrendered our lives entirely to the One who died for us.  But He showed us, ‘There is all the difference in the
world between ‘your’ surrendered life in My hands, and Me living My life in your body”.  (R Howells)
•        The Holy Ghost as a divine Person lived in the bodies of the apostles, even as the Savior had lived His earthly life
in the body that was born in Bethlehem.  And all that the Holy Spirit asked of us was our wills and our bodies.  (R Howells)
•        It was because there was a work to be done in the world today that only He could do.  (R Howells)

INTEREST - no interest charged to brethren (Deuteronomy 23:19)

INTERPRETATION - belongs to the Lord   Genesis 40:8

INTERROGATORY PRAYER - Asking God questions.  And expect Him to answer.  Ask God “How do You feel?”  “What do
You think?”  “How do You feel about a person?”  I assume He wants to talk to me.  Here’s the first question you should
ask:  “Is there anything in my life you don’t like?”

INTIMACY - 1.  Need Divine escort; given supernaturally; activity of Holy Spirit
                  2.  Fill our minds with truths of personality of God; truth specifically about how He feels and relates to us
                  3.  Responsiveness; voluntary; risky love; out of comfort zone
--”see how they love each other”
              --”into-me-see”
--to impart intimacy - SOS 7:8-9

      -- Relationship with God
      Conditional:
              Bride                                        Daughters
-Direct access to the Lord                -Indirect access to the Lord through
through her personal                          their relationship to the Bride
               relationship with Him
-Able to give an intimate                 -Only vision they had of the Lord
description of that Him:  His                 was that which they received
Person and His desirability                 through the Bride
      --voluntarily making yourself vulnerable
•        The closer you approach the light, the brighter it shines on you.  This is the marvelous two-edged sword of intimacy.
We see Him clearly and we see ourselves more clearly.  It is the perfect safeguard against pride.  True intimacy breeds
true humility.  You will sadly discover that your own brothers and sisters in Christ may have a harder time dealing with
God’s glory in you that your unbelieving friends and coworkers.  Others may react negatively for one major reason:
radiance to one is confrontational to another.  (Beth Moore.)
•        Intimacy  Purity  Unity  Power
•        We don’t seek the enemy.  We are seekers of God.  And as God comes to us, the enemy seeks us.  Because
when you walk with Jesus, you partake of all the warfare that He provokes.  God doesn’t need you to start a fight.  We are
people of His Presence and He is our Warrior King.  He loves a good fight.  And He tells us to fight a good fight.  And a
good fight is one where you don’t lose – otherwide its not a good fight.  A A good fight is one that you win.  In His presence
we possess all the authority and all the resources to fight a good fight and not lose.  The real battle is not for cities and
its not territories.  The real battle is for intimacy.  You can only become fully intimate with Christ on the battlefield.  In
church, intimacy always breaks down where we are under sustained attack.  You have to get to learn how to be intimate
with Christ on the battlefield.  How to be intimate with Christ in the refuge, in the fortress, in the high tower.  Because there
is a loving intimacy which hides you in Christ before the enemy.  And when God comes down, He kills the flesh.  You
know God and the devil both have one thin in common:  they are both trying to kill us.  The devil has come to kill, steal,
and destroy anything in your life.  God has come to kill your flesh and He is not apologizing.  There is an intimacy there at
the foot of the Cross that restores our holiness.  There is an intimacy in discipline.  There is an intimacy in our
servanthood as we learn obedience, sometimes by the things that we suffer.  There is an intimacy in our sacrifice.  There
is an intimacy that comes in our sonship.  There is an intimacy that comes in the wilderness.  Hosea 2:14, 15 – God
captivates our hearts and draws us into the wilderness to speak kindly to us.  There is an intimacy.  The dessert is the
best place to live – ever.

INTIMATE – eating with sinners was considered being intimate with them and against the law.  Psalm 119:115; Psalm 1:1

INVISIBLE - when devil shows up in visible, he’s losing in the invisible (JL)
--the most important thing you’re building is something you can’t see (JL)

IOWA - “field of dreams”

ISHI - My Husband (Hosea 2:16)

ISOLATION - attention based on self and not others.  For long periods proves your love is set on your own pain more than
the other peoples needs.  Does opposite of bringing unity.  Failure to cover pain caused by others with love God gave us.

ISRAEL’S MINISTRY - to bring the nations to God in intercession and to bring God to the nations in demonstration

ISSAC - brought forth Jacob whose nigh-long struggle with the Lord where he acknowledged and confessed his flesh nature
resulted in God giving him a new name and a new identity:  Israel

ISSUE (TDJ) You can’t have “an issue” in your life without it effecting your children, your marriage, every area of your life -
whatever you touch.  It effects everything in your life.

IVORY PALACES - (Psalm 45:8) - life of Jesus as God in eternity past

IVORY TOWER (SOS 7:4) protection and strength; rare and costly
