HOLINESS – PASSION FOR JESUS
I. THE DAYS OF NOAH
A. We know that in the season that the Lord returns there is going to be similar times on the earth as to what Noah
experienced.
Matt. 24:37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
Gen. 6:3 And the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall
be one hundred and twenty years.”
B. I will not strive anymore with Man, the resistance to God had hit a new level. Sin is the only thing being offered
God.
Gen. 6:5 Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the
thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
C. That is a most unbelievable statement.
D. We are approaching a time with this will again be a reality…
Gen. 6:6 And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.
Gen. 6:7 So the LORD said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping
thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.”
E. That actually causes my heart to hurt, for the creator to look upon his creation and say that evil has reached such
heights that I must start over.
Gen. 6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
F. In the midst of this perversion there was ONE, who put his pursuits, his focus on something else.
Gen. 6:9 This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect (NIV–Blameless) in his generations. Noah
walked with God.
Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations
1. In the midst of an entire generation – All the earth- there was a man who walked righteous before the Lord.
2. Some type of Vow, decision had to be made for him to commit to walk before the Lord in the midst of that
perversion. To not be swept away he stood focused before the Lord.
Noah walked with God.
3. What a phrase – Noah lived his live where the Lord was welcomed. There was not a striving with the way he lived his life.
4. Written on my tomb stone – Dwayne walked with God! His life lined up with principals of the Kingdom of God.
I. TO WALK WITH GOD/TO BE A FRIEND OF GOD.
A. To be a friend of God it requires a certain journey to be made.
B. God's nature demands holiness in the life of a believer. When He calls us to salvation, He calls us to fellowship with
Himself and His Son Jesus.
1John 1:3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly
our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.
1John 1:4 And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.
1John 1:5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no
darkness at all.
1John 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
C. It is impossible to walk in the darkness and walk with God. Noah could not have walked in darkness.
D. But God is light; in Him is no darkness at all (1 John 1:5). How then can we have fellowship with Him if we continue to
walk in darkness?
1. Because God’s very nature is pure and Holy, that is reason we must take the journey into Holiness.
2. Based on this little compromises become colossal
3. This means that little compromises matter – light and darkness cannot dwell together.
III. KING DAVID VOW
Psa. 101:1 I will sing of mercy and justice; to You, O LORD, I will sing praises.
Psa. 101:2 I will behave wisely in a perfect/blameless way.
A. Perfect – this is not saying that he is going to attain perfection- my heart will be responsive and I will give myself
to a focus life in regards to purity.
B. He is making a statement 100% obedience I will all the days of my life make decisions that line my life up with
Oh, when will You come to me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
Psa. 101:3 I will set nothing wicked before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away; It shall not cling to me.
Psa. 101:4 A perverse heart shall depart from me; I will not know wickedness.
C. With this type of commitment to walk before the Lord King David is not only focused on the BIG SINS our there. He is
making commitment to walk holding his tongue, greed, covetousness, slander, gossip. Sexual perversion, these matter to
GOD!
D. Because my neighbor has it does not mean I need it,
E. Again I am not saying you will attain perfection but it is to be our aim. Knowing I will stumble yet realizing that his
mercies are new every morning.
IV. THIS IS NOT A CALL LEGALISM
A. When you talk about holiness people through out the legalism card, “I am under Grace”. Do not talk to much
about Holiness.
B. The Slippery Grace message that has been taught that has been taught has give people permission to live in
compromise and to feel like they are living walking with God. John told us, you cannot live in compromise and walk with
God!
C. This is the purpose of Grace!
Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,
Titus 2:12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the
present age,
Titus 2:13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
V. HOW WE ARE CALLED TO LIVE
Eph. 1:4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before
Him in love,
A. Holy and perfect – pursuing 100% obedience all the days of our lives
B. The seed bed to holiness is Love.
C. A people fully walking out the first commandment! Consumed, giving great attention to to how they hold their heart
before the Lord.
VI. THE SEED BED TO HOLINESS IS THE FIRST COMMANDMENT
A. I want to introduce you to a cry and a revelation that will guide you all the days of your life! It is found in the book
of SOS.
B. This is an amazing book – it is a allegory, a picture of Jesus and heart for the bride. A picture of the Journey of a
believer
Song 1:2 Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth/word
C. This book starts off with a personal cry for an encounter with Jesus.
D. Let him speak to me, man lives on every word that proceeds from the Mouth of God.
For your love is better than wine.
E. Wine here speaks of legitimate pleasure, those things in this age that ones in this life would consider enjoyable.
1. What I have experienced in you is more desirable, enjoyable the any of the other pleasures of this age.
2. Deep communion with God is truly enjoyable, sitting in a room talking with you is the desire of my heart.
3. I am telling you this is divine entertainment – it is different entertainment in it consistency, it feels and is different.
F. As the bride starts with this cry she faces many challenges in her Journey but this cry is her guiding force in her journey.
She ends in Love SOS 8:5, leaning on her beloved.
VII. SONG 1:3 THE FRUIT OF LOVE IS OBEDIENCE – HOLINESS
1John 2:3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.
A. This is not the religious who look like they are doing the right things – this is ones who follow his commandments in
their inner man, in their secret life. Watching their tongue, their eyes,
B. Developing the beatitudes in your life – these are the commandments of Jesus.
1John 2:4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1John 2:5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected (matured) in him. By this we know that we are in Him.
Whoever keeps His word
C. Whoever walk right, holy before the lord.
Truly the love of God is perfected (matured) in him.
D. If you find someone keeping his words, walking blameless before this is one that you will find in Love with God. The first
commandment has been worked in him because he has encountered the God who is ravished over him!
1John 2:6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
E. For when we abide with him we will walk as Jesus walked.
VIII. JOHN SAYING THE SAME THING A DIFFERENT PLACE
John 14:21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My
Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”
John 14:23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We
will come to him and make Our home with him.
A. Famous preacher once said - God works through many but does not dwell with many
B. This is my cry – a generation with this vision
IX. HOLINESS BASED OUT OF THE FIRST COMMANDMENT
A. Holiness based on personal success before God is religion and it will kill you, Holiness based off of LOVE will
lead you to success and personal freedom, joy
B. A life based on Intimacy with God will give you power to walk out obedience.
X. MINISTRY TIME
A. Awaken us in Love – unlock the hearts of this generation
B. I have sinned against you and this sin has hindered me from walking with you. I have not only sinned but I have
against you!!!
