THE GREAT AND VERY TERRIBLE DAY

I.        THE GREAT AND TERRIBLE DAY

For the day of the Lord is great and very terrible; who can endure it?  (Joel 2:11)

A.        There are two dimensions of God’s leadership in the Day of the Lord:  its greatness and its terribleness.  Joel
proclaims, “the Day … is great and very terrible”  (Joel 2:11).  Malachi referenced the Day of the Lord, calling it great and
dreadful (Malachi 4:5).  Isaiah calls it the year of favor and the day of God’s vengeance (Isaiah 61:1-3).  These two
distinct characteristics have to do with the way God leads and the way we respond to Him in the Day of the Lord activities.

B.        These two dimensions are the diverse divine two-fold strategy.  The tension of these two realities will perplex the
people of the earth, yet God has brought them together to bring about the greatest transformation possible.  Both of
these massive components of the Day of the Lord, the great and the terrible, are comprised of divine activities with
distinct manifestations.

C.        Through Scripture, God uses two primary Old Testament events as central stories to illustrate the two sides of the
Day of the Lord activities.  The story of Moses in Exodus is a picture of the “great”, of God’s miraculous deliverance for
those who call on Him; and the events of the Babylonian military invasion in 586 BC portray the ‘terrible’, God’s war
against sin and rebellion that exist, even amongst some of his people.

D.        Right through the Old Testament prophets, instead of using a hundred different illustrations of deliverance, God
emphasizes the events of Moses and the Exodus.  And instead of using the many different examples of his discipline, He
often refers back to the Babylonian invasion.

E.        These two events teach us God’s principles related to both the end-time judgments of god and the en-time
blessings of God.  God considers these events as central in expressing His nature.  Repeatedly, He speaks of them to
His people, as if to say, “Let the deliverance that I worked through Moses show you the quality of My delivering power and
let the Babylonian invasion make known the manner of My disciplining zeal”.  It is through grappling with and understanding
the issues of these two historical realities that we are more prepared to understand God’s deliverance and judgment
related to the final Day of the Lord.

F.        Our experience of the greatness or dreadfulness of this coming Day comes down to our response.  To those that
respond to God, living righteously, the coming Day will be a glorious day.  Though it will entail suffering and testing, it is
the day the righteous have longed for.  The privilege of experiencing the fullness of the Day can be seen somewhat in
the statement that Jesus made related to His first coming, “I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see
what you see, and have not seen it, and to hear what you hear, and have not heard it.”  (Luke 10:24)

G.        The great dimension of that Day will include the outpouring of the Spirit with extraordinary signs and wonders
(Joel 2:28-32).  Yet for those who resist God, it is a terrible day.  It is a day of destruction across the globe.  The terrible
dimension of the Day of the Lord speaks of God’s judgments coming upon the earth as he shakes all that can be shaken
(Hebrews 12:26).

H.        Because of these two distinctive dimensions, we need to be prepared for both the judgment of God upon His
enemy called sin and the vindication He will bring to His people, the redeemed, who say “yes” to His refining fire.

II.        AGREEMENT WITH GOD IN HIS DAY

A.        Regarding this great and terrible Day, Joel asks, “Who can endure it?”  (Joel 2:11).  This question means, who
can endure it without the favor of God?  Only one kind of people can endure both the unparalleled, powerful visitation
of the Holy Spirit and the devastating judgments that will shake the planet – only those who are living in the favor of God
by the gift of righteousness in Christ Jesus along with a life of wholehearted devotion to Him.  No one can face this Day
in their own strength or of their own account.  The free gift of righteousness that we have received from God is our only
foundation and it will lead us to a life of wholehearted obedience to God.

B.        The Day of the Lord is when He shows Himself strong, to carry out both his warnings and His promises.  “Strong
is the One who executes His word” (Joel 2:11).  He is mighty in bringing to pass the warnings as well as the promises that
He declared in His Word.  The striking thing is that both His warnings and promises go significantly unheeded by the
majority of the people on the earth.  The rebellious carelessly ignore the warnings of God’s judgment.  The Church is
often just as ambivalent about both dimensions – the great and terrible – of the Day of the Lord.  They seem to be a
little ashamed of both sides, as if God is overreacting in both manifestations of His zeal.

C.        Apart from living understanding, called the spirit of revelation (Ephesians 1;17), the human heart is naturally
offended at both dimensions of the great and terrible Day – the revival and the judgments.  Even the revival that God
is bringing at the end of the age seems a little extreme and unrealistic without the grace of Holy Spirit revelation.  The
Church generally wants to see the glory of God yet is not really connected to the promises of its sure coming.

D.        Someone might say, “You seem to think something dramatic is about to happen”.  “I am glad that you understand.
That is right.”  “Let’s be honest.  I’ve never seen anything happen dramatic.”  “I do not understand our future based on
the powerlessness and lethargy of our past.  I will not take our spiritually barren history and forecast our future by it.”

E.        We must base our belief system upon the Word of God, not our own theories or our past experience.  It is truly a
great Day and truly a terrible Day that is coming to planet earth; a time is approaching when the people of God will put a
stake in the ground, line up with the Word of God and begin to proclaim this Day rather than shying away from it.

F.        Strong is the one who carries out His word; a million opinions that it is not going to happen will not prevent it.  We
must declare the Day as it is.  It is the greatest time in natural history.  It is the hour of greatest glory for the Body of Christ.
What God has deemed so important, we must also.  We must align our hearts with what God has purposed as His wise
and necessary plan.  He is not asking our opinions as to whether the Day should come or not.  This Day is certain.  It will
come to pass.  God is inviting us to be a people of understanding, embracing His ways as we partner with Him in agreement
with all He is about to do on the earth.

III.        THE DAY OF THE LORD IS GREAT

A.        There is only one global great Day of the Lord, and it happens in relation to the Second Coming of Jesus.  It is
characterized by a worldwide move of God; the whole earth will be caught up and swept into the unusual manifestation of
God’s zeal for righteousness.  It is a great Day because it will be the greatest demonstration of revival power in world
history.  There will be such a heightened activity of the Holy Spirit’s blessing for the responsive Church.  There will be an
increase of the winds of the Spirit such as the Body of Christ has never witnessed.  It is really good news!  Revival seems
like a weak word for what the Church will encounter in that Day.  It will far surpass the Book of Acts, the early Church and
the Book of Exodus, with all of the massive miracles under Moses.  It will be like Acts and Exodus combined and multiplied
on a global dimension!

B.        The greatest expressions of supernatural power will be experienced in that Day.  In Psalm 91, David describes a
realm of fearlessness that the redeemed will enter into at that time, even as thousands fall at our right and left side.  If the
kingdom lives within us, we will remain unshaken when everything around is shaking.  The greatness of tat Day will be
characterized by supernatural provision, protection and guidance.

IV.        SUPERNATURAL PROVISION (FOOD AND WATER)

“As in the days when you came out of the land of Egypt, I will show them wonders”.  (Micah 7:15)

A.        The premier example in Scripture of God’s extravagant provision in crisis is found in the Book of Exodus when God
brought Israel out of captivity by the Egyptians.  Exodus is a significant book to prepare the Church for the coming hour.  It
contains God’s centerpiece deliverance story; He powerfully delivered His people when all the odds were against them
and miraculously provided all of their needs as they journeyed through the wilderness.  He caused food to fall from the
sky and He brought water from a rock in the desert.  Dynamic, supernatural provision was the Israelites’ norm.
Jehovah-Jireh, the great Provider, was on magnificent display as He exhibited His kindness time and time again through
His provision.  The Exodus story will be our story because it really is going to happen again!

B.        This will be a great Day for God’s people in terms of receiving supernatural provision.  God will manifest His provision
like He did in Exodus.  In that day, we will be filled with amazement at the different ways in which the Lord provides food
and water.  Water can flow from a rock at the Lord’s command.  Those refusing the mark of the Beast will be unable to
purchase food (Revelation 13:17), but they will experience Jesus as the one who fed the five thousand with the fish and
the loaves.  He is the same one who fed Elijah by the ravens.  He is in the business of food multiplication; He will do it
again – only in greater measures than ever witnessed before.  The Lord can multiply out of nothing and command the
birds in the heavens to supply our needs; we need not fear.  We will be utterly astounded in that Day at just how easy
it is for Him to continually provide for our needs.

V.        SUPERNATURAL PROTECTION – GOSHEN PRINCIPLE (POCKETS OF MERCY)

A.        Another characteristic of the greatness of the Day of the Lord is God’s supernatural protection.  It is called the
“Goshen Principle”.  In the time of the plagues of Egypt, God did not allow His judgments to touch the place where His
people lived, a place called Goshen (Exodus 8:22).  God protected His people from the plagues He released in Egypt.
The Lord said to Pharaoh, “I will make a difference between My people and your people” (Exodus 8:23).  Though the
plagues were poured out in Egypt, all around the Israelites, nobody in Goshen was sick or affected, not even their
livestock.  In Goshen, none of the hail or fire fell, none of the flies swarmed (Exodus 9:4, 6, 26).  The Israelites found
themselves in a pocket of mercy, a city of refuge.

B.        The same idea as the Goshen principle is seen in Scripture when the mark or seal of God is put on the saints to
protect them from the wrath of God.

They (demons) were commanded not to harm the grass but only those men who do not have the seal of
God on their foreheads. (Revelation 9:4)

He (angel) cried to the four angels saying, “Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have
sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads. (Revelation 7:2-3)

The Lord said to him (angel), “Go … through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads
of the men who sigh and cry (intercession) over all the abominations that are         done within it.”  To the
others (angels) He said, “Go through the city and kill.  Utterly slay old         and young … but do not come
near anyone on whom is the mark.  (Ezekiel 9:4-6)

C.        Pockets of mercy is a term used to refer to geographic areas where God’s people will be hidden or protected from
God’s wrath in the end-times.

Seek the Lord, all you meek of the earth.  Seek righteousness, seek humility.  It may be that
you will be hidden (pockets of mercy) in the day of the Lord’s anger.  (Zephaniah 2:3)

D.        The Lord will perform this GOSHEN PRINCIPLE again in the great Day of the Lord.  He will have His geographic
Goshen’s all over the earth.  These cities of refuge will be strategically located and have Divine protection, provision and
guidance with an open heaven over hem.  In these geographic locations, the judgments of God will be held back from the
people of God.  The bombs may fall, earthquakes may hit and plagues break out yet will not effect those with God’s seal
on them.  Just like Goshen, these geographic areas will be supernaturally protected by the Lord.  This Goshen principle
will be a critical reality to the end time Church.  To a people who cry out, He says, “It may be that you will be hidden in the
day of the Lord’s anger” (Zephaniah 2:3).

VI.        SUPERNATURAL GUIDANCE (PROPHETIC ANOINTING)

They shall come with weeping, and with supplications I will lead them.  I will cause them to
walk by the rivers of waters, in a straight way in which they shall not stumble. (Jeremiah  31:9)

“I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old
men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.  (Joel 2:28)

Your ears shall hear a (prophetic) word behind you, saying, “this is the way, walk in it”,
whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.  (Isaiah 30:21)

A.        Another mark of the greatness of the events surrounding the Second Coming will be supernatural direction.
Jeremiah prophesied of a time when Israel would be escaping and fleeing as refugees, that God would lead them by
supplications in that day (Jeremiah 31:9).  Their prayer life will be hot and anointed as they experience two-way
communication with God.  He will direct them right or left to the places of food, water and refuge.  Our ears shall hear a
word behind or suddenly from the Lord, saying, “This is the way, walk in it”.  (Isaiah 30:21).  In that Day, the Lord will
direct His people to the right and to the left according to His perfect knowledge of where we will find safety and protection.
We see in these promises the supernatural way He will lead His people through the maze of all of the global conflict at the
end of the age.

B.        There will be that unique kind of supernatural guidance to find food, to reconnect in relationships, to be at the
right place at the right time, to escape the earthquake, to escape the bomb and to escape the ambush of the enemy –
both military and spiritual.  He will lead us every step of the way by constant communication.

VII.        YOU WILL NOT WANT TO MISS THIS GLORIOUS HOUR OF HISTORY

A.        Sometimes people say, “Oh, the Book of Revelation, I’m glad we are going to be gone when that all plays out”.
This is a wrong position to take regarding the events of the great Day of the Lord.

B.        First of all, the Church WILL NOT BE GONE.  We will be present and victorious through the drama described in
the Book of Revelation.

C.        Second, it is not a time we even want to escape because it will be the Church’s most glorious hour in all of history!  It is
then that the food will multiply, the angels will appear, supernatural direction will be our common way of life, signs and
wonders will explode, and the Great Harvest will come in!  This is when the miracles of Acts and Exodus will be multiplied
and combined on a global level!  We do not want to be gone when that is happening!

D.        Even those with weak stomachs will still want to be down here.  For all eternity, we’ll be glad if we don’t miss it.
It is the magnificent hour of the Lord’s power displays in the midst of His people!

E.        The glorious outcome of God’s end-time supernatural provision will be witnessed in great numbers of those who
will come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.  I believe that over a billion souls will be save.  Yet it is more than a
numerical victory that we will see.  The victory of this great Day will also be seen in the depth of love of the millions of
new believers.  They will not love God in a short-lived, shallow, mediocre way but with an unusual intensity of mature love.
In all of history, this great day will be characterized by the greatest number of souls ever reached in salvation and
distinguished by the deepest levels of mature love.  What a great and magnificent day!

VIII.        A DIVINELY APPOINTED EVIL EMPIRE

A.        During the Day of the Lord judgments, God will raise up an evil empire led by the antichrist that will invade many
nations in a hostile way.  This political, military, economic, religious structure will oppress the nations of the earth.

B.        At the foundation of this evil global empire is the great paradox that it is God Himself who will raise it up.  Though
certainly, satan will have his role in it and the sin of man will play into it.  Clearly, it is Jesus who opens the first seal to
release the antichrist to conquer (Revelation 6:1-2)

C.        God is the one raising up an evil adversary to test the inhabitants of the earth.

The hour of trail which shall come upon the whole world, to test those … on earth.         (Revelation 3:10)

D.        God raised up evil Pharaoh in Moses’ day.  He was the most powerful man in the world.

The Scripture says to Pharaoh, “I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and
that My name may be declared in all the earth.”  (Romans 9:17)

E.        God raise dup an evil Assyrian leader named Sennacherib to judge Israel in 721 BC.

“Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger … the staff in whose hand is My indignation.  (Isaiah 10:5)

F.        God called Nebuchadnezzar His servant to judge Israel in 586 BC.

Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, My servant, and will (come) against this land … and
will utterly destroy …  ‘Then … when seventy years are completed, that I will punish the king
of Babylon and the Babylonians, for heir iniquity’, says the Lord.  (Jeremiah 25:9, 12)

I have given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar … My servant (Jeremiah         27:6)

“Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel:  “Behold, I will send Nebuchadnezzar the
king of Babylon, My servant, and will set his throne above these stones …”  (Jeremiah         43:10)

“Look among the nations and watch – be utterly astounded!  For I will work a work in your
days which you would not believe, though it were told you.  For indeed I am raising up the Chaldeans
(Babylon), a bitter and hasty nation …  They are terrible and dreadful.          (Habakkuk 1:5-7)

I (the Lord) will prepare destroyers against you (Babylon against Jerusalem). (Jeremiah 22:7)

G.        God raised up the Persians to judge the Babylonians

I have commanded My sanctified ones (Persian arm); I have also called My mighty ones
(Persian army) for My anger … a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered         together!
The Lord of hosts musters the army for battle.  They come from a far country         (Persia) … the Lord
and His weapons (Persian army) of indignation, to destroy
           (Isaiah 13:3-5)

God is a just judge …  He will sharpen His sword; He bends His bow and makes it ready.
He also prepares for Himself instruments of death (Psalm 7:11-13)

H.        God sets into place the leaders of the nations to serve His purposes.  It says in Daniel 7:1-8, God would raise up
four successive evil empties (Babylon, Persia, Greece, Rome) to persecute Israel.

This decision is by the decree of the watchers, and the sentence by the word of the holy ones, in order
that the living may know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men,   gives it to whomever He will, and
sets over the lowest of men.  (Daniel 4:7)

God rules in the kingdom of men, and appoints over it whomever He chooses (Daniel 5:21)

Be subject to the governing authorities.  For there is no authority except from God, and the  authorities
that exist are appointed by God … for he is God’s minister, an avenger to  execute wrath on him who
    practices evil.  (Romans 13:1, 4)

I.        Specific to study is the testimony of Joel, who prophesied that the evil Babylonian army would be sent by God.  Joel
calls Babylon God’s army (Joel 2:11).  In Joel’s day, God raised up Nebuchadnezzar, an evil man who blasphemed God.
At the end of the age God will raise up an evil coalition of nations to purify His people and to judge the wicked.  Why does
He do this?  It is to discipline His people, to cleanse the spiritual atmosphere and to release the harvest while punishing
the wicked.  When crisis breaks forth in the earth, suddenly the temporal and eternal come into focus.  It propels people
to choose in the most intense way at the end of the age.

J.        God will raise up the antichrist to a position of great authority for 3-1/2 years to bring the entire earth to a place of
decision for righteousness or unrighteousness (Daniel 7-12; 2 Thessalonians 2; Revelation 13).

The Lamb (Jesus) opened one of the seals … a white horse.  He (antichrist) who sat on it had a bow; and a crown
was given to him … he went out conquering and to conquer.          (Revelation 6:1-2)

He (antichrist) was given … authority (by God) to continue for forty-two months.  It was         granted to him to make
war with the saints and to overcome them.  Authority was given him         (by God) over every tribe, tongue, and nation.
(Revelation 13:5, 7)

For indeed I will raise up a shepherd (antichrist) in the land (Israel) who will not care for         those who are cut off …
nor heal those that are broken … But he will eat the flesh of the fat         and tear their hooves in pieces.  “Woe to the
worthless shepherd!”  (Zechariah 11:16-17)

He (antichrist) shall speak pompous words against the Most High, shall persecute the saints         of the Most High …
Then the saints shall be given into his hand (for 3-1/2 years).
     (Daniel 7:25)

K.        God’s use of the end-of-the-age military invasions is shocking to our religious paradigms.  God has chosen to use
evil military forces to discipline His Church to awaken the lost and punish the wicked.  Who raised up Adolph Hitler?  Yes,
the devil acted together with evil men in Germany at that time to contribute to establishing him in a position of political
power, but god’s sovereignty was the primary source in allowing the nations to be tested by the wicked force.   God raises
up evil leaders to bring judgment on the nations, then God judges those wicked leaders after God is finished using them
as His instrument of judgment.  Throughout the Old Testament, the prophets make this clear.  It is essential that we have
clarity on the sovereignty of God.

IX.        THE DAY OF THE LORD IS VERY TERRIBLE

A.        To those who say ‘no’ to God, this coming Day of the Lord will be exceedingly terrible.  It is bad news to those who
do not want His leadership.  The most severe divine judgment and wrath in human history is coming in this Day.  If the
great Day of the Lord is the greatest day of revival ever, the very terrible Day of the Lord means the most severe
judgments ever.  The intensity of God’s judgments will far surpass any other time period in history (Revelation 6-20).

B.        We must first understand the distinction between divine wrath and discipline.  They are two entirely different issues.
God releases His wrath to punish rebellion and His discipline to help free His sincere people who are stuck in compromise.
He disciplines His people who do sincerely love Him.  The divine motive of wrath is punishment of persistent rebellion.
The motive of divine discipline is love and redemption.

C.        These two activities of God, wrath and discipline, will be manifested along with the manifestation of demonic rage.
Satan possesses tremendous hostility, desiring to destroy the righteous.

D.        We are not always sure what difficulty is God’s wrath, or God’s discipline or satan’s rage.  They will be happening
simultaneously, overlapping to some degree even within the same crisis events.  We cannot know the hearts of all with their
mixed responses towards God.  Therefore we should not quickly and easily have sweeping definitions as to the reasons
and causes of crises in the earth.  We can speak of the general principles:  the rebellious experience God’s wrath,
compromising believers undergo God’s discipline and the righteous encounter satan’s rage.

X.        DIFFERENT TERRIBLE DIMENSIONS TO THE DAY OF THE LORD

A.        A divinely appointed evil empire is one dimension of the terrible Day of the Lord.  One of the terrible dimensions of
the Day of the Lord is that an evil empire led by the antichrist will invade the nations against their will.  He will oppress the
nations, seeking to make them subservient to his will through military dominance and tyranny.

1.        God will raise up this temporary evil army that will function as a catalyst for military invasions disrupting the nations
of the earth.  Ultimately, this empire will not succeed in dominating all of the nations of the earth, yet it will trigger a domino
effect of events; nation will rise against nation (Matthew 24:7).  We do not know to what extent this empire will dominate
the earth.  The bible is not detailed about his.  However, the bible repeatedly uses terms like ‘the whole earth’ to describe
its influence (Daniel 7:23; Revelation 13:8).  Thus, we know that it will have some presence and impact, whether small or
large, in most nations of the earth.

2.        There are 262 nations (including territories, etc.) on the earth right now.  This evil empire may only unify fifty or
hundred nations, yet that will still be the largest coalition of nations in history.  Many nations will resist him and some will
prevent him from totally dominating their land, while still feeling the impact of his oppression.

B.        God’s judgment in the created order is the second terrible dimension of the final Day of the Lord will be God’s
judgment in nature.  Earthquakes, storms, hurricanes, tornadoes, and drought will shake the earth.  Plagues, famines
and pestilences will abound partly as a natural outcome of military invasions.  However, they still come as judgments from
God.  The seven trumpets and bowls of wrath will be supernaturally instigated, not just natural effects of war.  Perhaps
the worst and most frightening of these will be the two demonic plagues (Revelation 9).

C.        The sowing and reaping process of sin will bring added crisis to the earth as a third part to the terrible dimension
of the Day of the Lord.  God will allow seeds of wickedness to fully ripen on the earth; sin will reach its highest dimensions
at the end of the age.  Sin has never been fully ripe globally, but in the hour of the Lord’s return, God will give the human
race the opportunity to reach its fullest potential of sinfulness.  The church will enter into a spirit of radical holiness, while
the earth will reach heights of perversion, both unequaled by any time in history.  Jesus spoke of this in His parable on the
wheat and the tares.  “let both grow together until the harvest … the harvest is the end of the age”  (Matthew 13:30, 39).
God will give the human race the change to reach its full potential in the natural realm on both sides – sin and
righteousness.

D.        The four primary categories of sin in the generation that the Lord returns will be murder, immorality, sorcery and
theft (Revelation 9:21).  These sins will become grotesquely ripe on the planet (Revelation 14:18; 17:4; 18:5).  God will
cause the wicked to reap the consequences of their choices.

They did not repent of … murder … sorceries … sexual immorality … theft.  (Revelation 9:21)

1.        Today the soil of America is already saturated with the blood of fifty million abortions over the last thirty years.  Yet,
the “murder-movement” has only just begun as millions possessed by demons of murder bring the crime rates to an
all-time high.

2.        The occult will inundate the earth, resulting in hundreds of millions of demonized people.

3.        Currently, there might be a couple billion people feeding on internet pornography during the course of a day, yet
ten or twenty years from now, that perversion will have reached levels of darkness our minds cannot yet fathom.  Satan
will use all the resources of technology to bring sexual perversion to the most wickedly corrupt levels.  Several billion
demonized people, utterly possessed by lust will fill the earth.

4.        Theft will increase to dramatic proportions.  Most wars are about theft.  There are many different manifestations
of theft that man calls “protecting our political interest”.

E.        In the natural process of reaping and sowing, all of these categories of sin will crescendo.  Talk about an
unsafe environment!  It truly will be a very terrible day.

XI.        RESULTS OF THE DAY OF THE LORD JUDGMENTS

The four angels … were released to kill a third of mankind. (Revelation 9:15)

A.        The results of the Day of the Lord judgments is that one-third of the earth’s population will die unnatural deaths.
In other words, their deaths will be related to encountering the judgment of God.  People who study demographics say
that by about 2025, there will be ten billion people in the earth.  A third of that number would be about two to three billion
people.  If the Lord does not return before then, several billion people will die under the judgments of God.  We cannot
even relate to the magnitude of that number because it is so unfathomable.  There is nothing like it in history and the
only thing comparable would be Noah’s flood.  What is coming in terms of numbers is more than fifty times the death
toll of World War II (fifty million).

B.        The principle is that God will use the least severe means to bring the greatest numbers to Himself at the deepest
levels of love for Jesus without violating their free will.  Anything of less severity would not get the job done.  Overwhelmed
with how right He was in His judgments, the saints sin, “Great and marvelous are Your works … Just and true are Your
ways!”  (Revelation 15:3-4)

C.        All these things will work together for the good of the redeemed (Romans 8:28).  When it is all said and done, we
will be in perfect agreement at how much better off we are after having experienced the difficulties.  After Joseph was
reunited with his brothers who sold him into slavery (Genesis 50).  He understood that what his brothers meant for evil,
God meant for good, saving many.

You meant evil against me; but god meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people
alive.  (Genesis 50:20)

D.        Joseph was left for dead, then went through two different prison sentences in Egypt.  God worked for good what
others meant for evil, in order that many would be saved.  In the same way, the works of the evil empire that will arise at
the end of the age will be meant for evil.  They will be possessed by darkness and have evil on their mind.  But God will
prevail as He overrules their evil intentions for the salvation of many.

E.  Planet earth is getting ready for the great and final Day of the Lord.  People alive on the earth right now will witness
this with their eyes.  The problem is that currently the Body of Christ is unprepared.  We need to begin to cry out to God
for understanding and a love of the truth.  God will be faithful to help us when this is our posture.  “Blessed are those
who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6).  We know from Scripture that before the
Lord returns, the Bride will be made ready (Revelation 19:7).  Jesus is a great leader, and He will perfectly accomplish
the work of preparation in a short amount of time, as He rapidly changes many of our paradigms and mindsets.
