Harlot Babylon: Global Religious and Economic Networks
I. THE GREAT FALLING AWAY AT THE END OF THE AGE
A. One of the greatest challenges for the Church in the End-Times is the falling away from the faith. (Matthew 24:9-13; 2
Thessalonians 2:3; 1 Timothy 4:1-2; 2 Timothy 3:1-7; 4:3-5; 2 Peter 2:1-3).
3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the
man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition… (2Thessalonians 2:3)
1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving
spirits and doctrines of demons… (1 Timothy 4:1)
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires,
because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears
away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables… (2 Timothy 4:3-5)
1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves …5 having
a form of godliness but denying its power (reality). (2 Timothy 3:1-5)
II. THE GREAT HARLOT: HER JUDGMENT AND SEDUCTION (REVELATION 17:1-7)
1 One of the seven angels…talked with me, saying to me, "Come, I will show you the judgment of the Great
Harlot who sits on many waters (v. 15), 2 with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the
inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication." 3… I saw a woman sitting on a
scarlet beast (Antichrist) which was full of names of blasphemy…4 The woman was arrayed in purple and
scarlet, and adorned with gold…having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of
her fornication. 5 On her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF
HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 6 I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints
and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement. 7 But the
angel said to me, "Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast (Antichrist)
that carries her… (Revelation 17:1-7)
A. John received one of the most significant prophecies related to the End-Times in Revelation 17-18 that directly
addresses the issue of the End-Time falling away. An angel revealed to John part of Satan’s strategy to seduce the
Church, Israel, and the nations to voluntarily cooperate with this.
B. A Harlot will be raised up across the earth that has two powerful expressions. First, a religious network and second,
an economic one. They will have a complicated inter-connection with each other. Both expressions of the Harlot will be
adorned with great wealth and power (Revelation 17:4).
C. The angel showed John the nature, history and judgment of the Babylonian Harlot religion (Revelation 17) and its
economic center (Rev. 18). The Harlot will have the power to seduce and deceive the most powerful leaders on the earth
(the kings and great merchants; Revelation 17:2; 18:23).
III. THE IMPORTANCE AND DIFFICULTY OF REVELATION 17-18
A. Revelation 17-18, is the longest prophecy in Revelation (42 verses). The second longest prophecy is about the
New Jerusalem (33 verses; Revelation 21:1-22:5). The longest prophecy in the OT is Jeremiah 50-51 (110 verses) and, it
also focuses on Babylon in the End-Times. One of the longest prophecies in the OT is Isaiah 13-14 (54 verses) which also
focuses on the role of Babylon in the End-Times.
B. Revelation 17 is the most difficult chapter in Revelation (if not in the whole Bible) to understand. It is the most
symbolic chapter in Revelation. The angel gives us the meaning of the symbols right in the chapter itself. The main
message of Revelation 17 is very easy to understand. We must know the three main themes of Revelation 17-18 which
are the emergence of the Antichrist, his ten nation confederation, and the Harlot Babylon.
C. Why is this most important prophecy veiled in such cryptic language? Because the Lord wants us to diligently pour over
every line of it and discuss it often so as to understand its every nuance.
D. Revelation 17 is essential to understand because its theme concerns the coming worldwide religion that will powerfully
seduce and deceive Israel, the Church, and all the religions on earth. Those who are deceived by it will end up in the Lake
of Fire. In other words, Revelation 17-18 deserves much careful study and dialogue. The prophetic Church must be
familiar with its truths and principles.
IV. THE 2-FOLD STRATEGY
A. Satan has two main strategies to keep the nations from the faith and to cause others to deny it.
B. First, Satan will raise up a tolerant, moderate, liberal, humanistic, worldwide religious network that God calls a
Great Harlot (Revelation 17:1). It will blend all the main religions in the world. This religious network is described as sitting
on many waters (v. 15). It will eventually become an official institution (forcefully instituted) that will have the political and
social power to kill those who resist it. This network will eventually be burned and become illegal.
C. Second, Satan will raise up another aggressive worldwide religious and economic system. It will be the Antichrist’s
worship movement that is totally intolerant and will be based on an economically empowered mark of the Beast.
D. Satan wants to weaken the conscience, conviction, and resolve of the people who believe in God so that they will more
readily accept the Antichrist religion that will come next.
E. In other words, the final stage of Satan’s plans on earth will be to raise up a one-world religious and economic
system after the Harlot is destroyed. It will be instituted after the Abomination of Desolation which includes a speaking idol
in the Jerusalem Temple with the mark of the Beast that enforces all to obey (by legalizing the death penalty for all who
refuse). Satan will use miracles along with the speaking of the Antichrist and the False Prophet to cause people to
voluntarily worship him.
F. The angel promised to show John the judgment of Babylon (Revelation 17:1). This speaks of her final judgment
because she has experienced many judgments throughout history. Her judgment occurs in two stages. First, the worldwide
religious network or the Harlot Church will be destroyed by fire near the middle of the final 7 years. This occurs before the
Abomination of Desolation. In this judgment, the locations that host the religious network are burned. Second, judgment will
come on the actual city of Babylon itself as part of the Seventh Bowl judgment.
G. Babylon the Harlot will be a worldwide counterfeit church or religious network that the majority will not perceive as being
demonic. It will be spiritually dangerous, causing many to deny the faith. We must be aware of the emergence of a religious and
economic Harlot in the earth.
H. Revelation 17 focuses on religious or spiritual Babylon as a worldwide network. Revelation 18 focuses on economic
Babylon as a literal city that is one of the main economic centers on earth.
V. THE SUBTLETY OF HUMANISM WILL BE SATAN’S BAIT TO DECEIVE THE CHURCH
A. Humanism exalts the welfare, glory, and dignity of man without regard to being in relationship with their creator and
redeemer. We will sing, "Great and marvelous and just and true are Jesus’ ways (Revelation 15:3). We love Jesus’ truth
and we hate the religious lies of the Harlot.
B. The world council of Churches, as well as many other international institutions, are looking for a “religious solution”
as the foundation to world peace and prosperity. Many conflicts in the military and economic arenas are based in religious
differences. They see the focus of this solution as bringing the three monotheistic religions together (Christianity, Judaism
and Islam).
C. It will include unifying liberal “Christianity” (Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox) with moderate Islam and Judaism, plus
Hinduism, Buddhism, New Age, etc., Each will be committed to moral and religious tolerance and will need to make
compromises to reach “unity” together.
VI. SPIRITUAL HARLOTRY IS FOCUSED ON RELIGION
12 My people ask counsel from their wooden idols…for the spirit of harlotry has caused them to stray, and they
have played the harlot against their God. 13 They offer sacrifices on the mountaintops, and burn incense on
the hills… (Hosea 4:12-13)
12 Take heed to yourself, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going…
13 But you shall destroy their altars…and cut down their wooden images 14 (for you shall worship no other
god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God), 15 lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants
of the land, and they play the harlot with their gods and make sacrifice to their gods…16 and…his daughters
play the harlot with their gods and make your sons play the harlot with their gods. 17 You shall make no
molded gods for yourselves. (Exodus 34:12-17)
16 And the LORD said to Moses: "Behold, you will rest with your fathers; and this people will rise and play the
harlot with the gods of the foreigners of the land…and they will forsake Me...” (Deuteronomy 31:16)
27 Gideon made it into an ephod (object of idolatrous worship) and set it up in his city…all Israel played the
harlot with it there. (Judges 8:27)
33 Israel again played the harlot with the Baals, and made Baal-Berith their god. (Judges 8:33)
25 They were unfaithful to the God of their fathers, and played the harlot after the gods of the peoples of the
land…. (1 Chronicles 5:25)
9 Because I was crushed by their adulterous heart which has departed from Me, and by their eyes which play
the harlot after their idols… (Ezekiel 6:9)
37 They have committed adultery with their idols, and even sacrificed their sons whom they bore to Me,
passing them through the fire, to devour them. (Ezekiel 23:37)
A. The Harlot network is spiritual harlotry which in Scripture is a reference to worshipping false gods. When Israel
turned to idols, God called it `whoring after other gods' or `playing the harlot with other gods.'
B. She is a Harlot because at the core of her clientel will be those who claim to have had a relationship with God
(Church and Israel).
C. Spiritual harlotry is synonymous with idolatry which is demon worship (1 Corinthians 10:20-21). It involves real
encounters with the dark side of the supernatural realm by engaging demons. Idolatry is usually combined with immorality
(orgies), drugs, demonic rituals and the sacrifice of animals or humans (Ezekiel 16, 23; Hosea 2). There are 90 OT
passages that speak of spiritual harlotry of he nation of Israel.
D. Babylon the Harlot is both a spirit (that has operated throughout history) and an End-Time network that will be based
in the actual rebuilt city of Babylon on the Euphrates River in Iraq. (The antichrist is a spirit that has operated through
history and is a literal man in the End-Times).
VII. WHY IS BABYLON CONSIDERED A RELIGION?
A. Why is this considered a religion? Nowhere in Revelation is Babylon actually called a religion. However, most agree that
it is a religion.
B. First, literally 100% of the 90 references in the Old Testament that refer to corporate or national harlotry are about
religion based on idolatry. Thus, John is using the concept of spiritual harlotry in the way that is in unity with the 90 times it
is used in the Old Testament.
C. Second, many believers who take a stand against Babylon are martyred. Business networks do not kill people who
insist on doctrinal issues such as Jesus being the only God. An economic system does not legislate martyrdom for those who
take a stand on Biblical doctrines. The amount of murder is so widespread that people are said to be drunk with the blood
of the martyrs. Yes, the Harlot Babylon will always be deeply intertwined with the evil use of vast amounts of money. There
are many wicked economic institutions today and there is no widespread martyrdom related to those who resist them.

D. Third, she is the mother of harlots. In other words, she produces other religious institutions like her. The original
mother is found in Genesis 10-11 at the tower of Babel which was the original Babylon which was profoundly religious.
Babylon’s history is far more dominate in religion than its economic policies.
E. Fourth, is the evidence of what is currently happening around the earth. Many religions are joining together. This is
a historical reality that we can easily observe.
F. This reality is something so sinister that it kills the saints. The Antichrist does not eliminate the sinister element but
just increase it greatly since he will be totally intolerant.
G. Jesus warned us to beware of the depths of Satan. The prophetic teaching of Jezebel involved immorality and idolatry
as the way to experience the deep things of Satan. Deep demonic rituals involve drugs, immorality, and contact with
demons. To overcome Jezebel, which was a a expression of the spirit of Babylon religion.
20 I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess,
to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols… 22 Indeed
I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation…24 as many as
do not have this doctrine, who have not known the depths of Satan, as they say, I will put on you no other
burden. (Revelation 2:20-24)
VIII. THE ECONOMIC CENTER IN THE CITY OF BABYLON
A. The city of Babylon will be one of the most powerful religious centers (Revelation 17) and economic centers
(Revelation 18) on earth. It will surpass New York City, London, Frankfurt, and Tokyo as an economic power and it will
surpass Jerusalem, and Rome as a religious worldwide center.
B. There is significant difference between the Harlot religious network and the city of Babylon itself from which the
religious network is launched. A city does not teach heresy, rule kings, and kill saints (Revelation 17:18; 18:10, 18, 19, 21),
rather, a network of people do that. (The religious and economic headquarters of the Antichrist’s worship movement may
also be based in Babylon).
C. This worldwide Harlot religious toleration and unity (Rev. 17) will be a vital step in setting the stage for the Antichrist’s
intolerant worship movement (Revelation 13). The primary opposition to this Harlot religious toleration will be “radical”
Christianity, Judaism and Islam. These same three groups will also have great zeal in resisting the Antichrist’s worship
movement even unto death. The Harlot network will so zealously kill the saints that she is described as drunk with blood.

D. By wrestling with these truths we gain discernment for the days ahead
14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses
exercised to discern both good and evil. (Hebrews 5:14)
E. We want to know the truths of Revelation 17-18 to function as forerunners that prepare the unprepared. We must
tell people about the coming blood thirsty Harlot. Today, religious unity is a popular trend. It will eventually become an
official institution that will have the political and social power to kill those who resist it. It will appear humanitarian, but will
be evil and demonic. Who can argue against religious unity and economic prosperity?
IX. JERUSALEM AND BABYLON COMING TOGETHER?
6 I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I
saw her, I marveled with great amazement. 7 The angel said to me, "Why did you marvel? I will tell you the
mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her… (Revelation 17:6-7)
A. John in his 90’s has seen the visions throughout Revelation and was on the Mount of Transfiguration. No man ever
saw more than John, yet he is shocked by the harlot! The man with such great marvels with great amazement!
B. Prince El Hassan book wrote, A Study on Jerusalem (1979). In this, he claims that Jerusalem should be everyone’s
city, a shared city where all peoples can come together.
C. The mystery is the unification of Babylon and Jerusalem as the ultimate expression of harlotry! If Israel and the
covenant nation who worshipped in the Jerusalem Temple in the Old Testament were the God’s Bride. Thus, the city of
Jerusalem is sometimes referred to as God’s Bride. The New Jerusalem is called that (Revelation 21:9-10)
D. The prominent economic leaders in the revived city of Babylon in Iraq may be made up of a surprising number of
apostate ethnic Jews. Imagine some of the prominent leaders in Iraq ruling the harlot religion being Jewish. They will be
motivated by money and demons. This would be the ultimate Harlot in history! These Jewish leaders (in covenant with the
Antichrist in Jerusalem) may be those who relocate to Babylon. This would create a strong working relationship between
the wicked leaders of these two cities and their activities.
E. In Jeremiah 50-51, many Jewish people are in Babylon at that time! They are in Babylon at the End of the Age! They
are in Babylon involved in commerce! The Lord tells those who have not bought in to the Babylon lie to flee (Revelation
18:4; Jeremiah 50:8, 28; 51:6, 9, 45, 50; Isaiah 48:20-21; 52:11-12; Zechariah 2:6-7). This will involve family members
who have resisted Babylon in their heart.
F. Jerusalem could be the litmus test of the new international city. The Antichrist will be the prince who will come out of
the Roman Empire. He will be the political and economic leader of much of Europe and the Middle East. Babylon will be the
new controlling city where much power will be based. He will bring together political power, economic strength, and religious
unity.
G. The religious headquarters maybe in Jerusalem, with the economic headquarters in Iraq. They may have new oil
(old oil money having been claimed, spent and exploited already)
X. THE STRANGE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE HARLOT AND THE ANTICHRIST
3 And I saw a woman (Harlot) sitting on a scarlet Beast (Antichrist)…. 7 The angel said to me, "...I will tell you
the mystery of the woman and of the Beast that carries her… (Revelation 17:3, 7)
A. The Harlot will sit on the Beast (v. 3) and will be carried by him (v. 7). There will be a mutual relationship in which
she is carried (supported) by the Antichrist, yet she controls him at first.
B. The Harlot will have an unusual relationship with the scarlet Beast (Antichrist). The Harlot will be the rider on the animal
that steers or controls it as the animal provides the energy to carry her.
C. It will be a complete shock to all when the Antichrist turns on the Harlot. The Harlot will rule over religion and
finances. The Antichrist will rule over the military and political forces. A civil war will occur in which Antichrist takes over
worldwide religion and finances. This will be a surprising conflict between the 10-nation confederation (under the Antichrist)
and the Harlot.
16 The ten horns…on the Beast…will hate the harlot, make her desolate…and burn her with fire. 17 For
God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the
Beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. (Revelation 17:16-17)
D. The Harlot will be burned in the middle of the 7 year period and replaced with the Antichrist’s strict religious system.
The very thing the nations hate and kill is the saints who are intolerant of liberal religion. The Antichrist will be epitome of
dark religious intolerance.
E. The city of Babylon will be burned at the time of the Seventh Bowl (Second Coming) (Revelation 18).
F. Satan’s kingdom is divided against itself. The radical Islamic people will resist the Antichrist.
G. In Revelation 17:16, the kings burn the worldwide religious outlets of the Harlot rather than the physical city of Babylon,
(which they later burn in relation to the Seventh Bowl). The economic center in Revelation 18 goes down in one hour related
to the Seventh Bowl or the last judgment before Jesus enters the city of Jerusalem.
H. The Revelation 17 Harlot religion had to be destroyed before the Abomination of Desolation could be set up. Thus, its
religious outposts are outlawed and burned similar to how the Nazis burned the synagogues in Europe, yet without destroying
the city of Jerusalem
I. Revelation 17:18 makes it so clear that they are burning a city because they burn the network at the middle of the
7 year period, then they burn the city at the end of the Great Tribulation (Isaiah 13-14; 47; Jeremiah 50-51).
J. In Revelation 17:18, the world headquarters over all the outlets gets burned. That headquarters may be Jerusalem.
Then the economic center in Babylon is burned by the same kings. The Harlot religious system would resist the establishing
of the Abomination of Desolation. The Abomination of Desolation ends the Harlot religion.
K. The example of Ernst Rohm: as commander of the SA (Strum-Abteiling or Storm Troopers or Brown Shirts), he was
responsible to keep order in Hitler’s public meetings, etc. Under Rohm, the SA grew to 170,000 by 1931 and was a key to
Hitler's rise to becoming Chancellor of Germany (Jan. 1933). By the end of 1933, the SA, numbered almost 5 million and
was more powerful than the Army (Reichswehr). Rohm made demands to Hitler about the SA having even more power. In
the spring of 1934, the leaders in Germany’s military, banking and industry promised to fully back Hitler if he eliminated
Ernst Rohm, his closest comrade for 15 years (since 1919). On June 30, 1934, called the “Night of the Long Knives,”
Rohm was killed with 77 leading Nazis plus 100 workers. The SA lost all its political function after Rohm was gone.
L. The burning of the Harlot will be a rude awakening to many who may wake up spiritually and get out of Satan’s web
of seduction. When the conflict happens, the testimony of the prophetic church will be validated and evangelism will
increase. Those who prophesied this will have credibility when it actually occurs.
M. Train Illustration: before the Harlot system is established, getting a hold of the truth will be like boarding a train that
is stopped. It will be easy. At the time that the Harlot systems develop, it will be like boarding a train that is going 20 mph.
In other words, it is doable, but will take more effort and risk to jump on it. At time of the Antichrist’s worship movement,
taking hold of the truth will be like jumping on a train that is going 40 mph. It is not impossible, but it is more difficult. Now,
we can get on the “train of truth” and gain understanding in the easiest way.
XI. THE HARLOT FALLS TWICE
A. The Harlot falls twice, first is religious then economic with two different locations yet one deeply joined system. Babylon
is twice I wonder if the first fall is the religious one which is in Jerusalem? Since that is the headquarters
B. The Harlot religious headquarters maybe in Jerusalem when it falls first!
XII. THERE ARE TWO STAGES TO THE END-TIME FALL OF BABYLON
A. Two passages in Revelation declare, “Babylon has fallen, has fallen.” They quote Isaiah 21:9.
9 Then he answered and said, "Babylon is fallen, is fallen! And all the carved images of her gods he has broken
to the ground." (Isaiah 21:9)
8 Another angel followed, saying, "Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all
nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication." (Revelation 14:8)
2 And he cried…saying, "Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen… (Revelation 18:2)
B. The Harlot religion world headquarters maybe in Jerusalem yet remaining deeply connected to the city of Babylon
economic systems (oil industry, etc) that work with the mark of the Beast. The city of Babylon will switches form the Harlot
religion to finance the Antichrist’s religion.
C. It is more accurate to think of Jerusalem as a Harlot city. How the faithful city has become a harlot! (Isaiah 1:21)
XIII. THE GREAT CITY IN REVELATION
A. The ultimate great city is the New Jerusalem
10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy
Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, (Revelation 21:10)
B. Jerusalem in the Great Tribulation is called the great city. It is the city that kills the Two Witnesses and is host to the
Abomination of Desolation as the foundation to the Antichrist’s worldwide religion during the Great Tribulation.
8 And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt,
where also our Lord was crucified. (Revelation 11:8)
C. Babylon on the Euphrates is called “that great city,” “this great city” or “the great city Babylon”.
10 Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! …16 and saying, 'Alas, alas, that great city that was
clothed in fine linen…18 and cried out…saying, 'What is like this great city?' 19 "They threw dust on their
heads…saying, 'Alas, alas, that great city, in which all who had ships on the sea became rich by her wealth!
For in one hour she is made desolate.' 21 Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and
threw it into the sea, saying, "Thus with violence the great city Babylon shall be thrown down, and shall not
be found anymore. (Revelation 18:10-21)
18 The woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over (dominates) the kings of the earth.
(Revelation 17:18)
8 Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city (Revelation 14:8)
D. In the Seventh Bowl judgment Jerusalem called the great city will be divided into three parts and the great Babylon
will be totally destroyed.
19 Now the great city (Jerusalem) was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And great
Babylon was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath.
(Revelation 16:19)
E. There are two great cities at the end of the age that are against God. They operate in a love-hate partnership as
they deny God and serve the Antichrist for financial gain.
F. Jerusalem is the litmus test of worldwide unity of religion. It is the city in which all the major religions look to. Beyond
that, it becomes the litmus test for the political and religious unity to see if people can come together as one
G. Prince Jordan wrote a book saying that Jerusalem needs to be everyone’s city, the shared city where all of the
religions can coexist together. “The joy of the whole earth” is what he called it.
XIV. THE REASON JERUSALEM IS MYSTICALLY CALLED SODOM AND EGYPT.
A. Sodom and Egypt through history. I think that it is eschatological not historical in Revelation 11:8. Why is End-Time
Jerusalem called Sodom and Egypt?” Is it because she makes a covenant with the Antichrist and with all of the nations?
10 Hear the word of the LORD, you rulers of Sodom (Jerusalem’s leaders); give ear to the law of our God, you
people of Gomorrah: 11 "To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to Me?" Says the LORD…I do not
delight in the blood of bulls…12 who has required this from your hand, to trample My courts? 13 Bring no
more futile sacrifices; incense is an abomination to Me…21 How the faithful city has become a harlot!
(Isaiah 1:10-21)
46 Your younger sister, who dwells to the south of you, is Sodom…47 you became more corrupt than they in
all your ways…49 Look, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom…50 they were haughty and committed
abomination before Me…60 Nevertheless I will remember My covenant with you…I will establish an
everlasting covenant with you… (Ezekiel 16:46-63)
B. Israel never gives up on harlotry brought from Egypt, making alliances with other nations.” The covenant with the
Antichrist in Daniel 9:27 is the ultimate alliance with other nations so that makes her like Egypt.
8 She has never given up her harlotry brought from Egypt….12 She lusted for the neighboring Assyrians…
clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding on horses…14 But she increased her harlotry; she looked at men…
15 girded with belts around their waists…all of them looking like captains…16 she lusted for them and sent
messengers to them in Chaldea. 17 Then the Babylonians came to her, …she was defiled by them…18 She
revealed her harlotry…19 Yet she multiplied her harlotry in calling to remembrance the days of her youth,
when she had played the harlot in the land of Egypt. 22 …Behold, I will stir up your lovers against you…I will
bring them against you from every side: 23 The Babylonians…all the Assyrians with them, all of them
desirable young men...captains and men of renown, all of them riding on horses. 24 They shall come against
you with…war-horses, with a horde of people…they shall judge you…25 I will set My jealousy against you,
and they shall deal furiously with you…27 I will make you cease… your harlotry brought from the land of
Egypt, so that you will not lift your eyes to them, nor remember Egypt anymore.' 29 They will deal hatefully
with you, take away all you have worked for, and leave you naked and bare. The nakedness of your harlotry
shall be uncovered…. (Ezekiel 23:8-29)
C. Ezekiel 5 uses similar language as found in Revelation during the Great Tribulation.
D. She could be the Mother of Harlot’s, because what originates out of there turns into Harlotry. Sodom and Egypt are
two premier examples of abomination and harlotry that Jerusalem imitates.
E. The kings commit fornication because they are pushing for Jerusalem to be the center of what originates out of
Babylon and is backed up economically from there. The primary leadership in Jerusalem new religion may be those trained
or deeply connected and loyal to Babylon because of money. The Jerusalem religious core leaders had deep connections
to the core leadership in the Babylon economic world. Jerusalem will be the worldwide religious center as the city of
Babylon is the economic center.
F. Maybe this will all be part of the covenant the Antichrist sets up with Israel and many Gentile nations. The
Daniel 9:27 covenant may have a harlotry dimension and an economic dimension in it.
G. Babylon becomes the mother of Harlots in the ultimate way because she brings Israel into harlotry at the deepest
level to worship demons for money.
H. Tolerance and immorality go together. Any time people believe in a pantheon of gods there is no moral convictions
about purity.
XV. THE POWERS OF EVIL TURN ON EACH OTHER
21 "I will call for a sword against Gog throughout all My mountains," says the Lord GOD. "Every man's sword
will be against his brother. (Ezekiel 38:21)
26 I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh, and they shall be drunk with their own blood as
with sweet wine. All flesh shall know that I, the LORD, am your Savior… (Isaiah 49:26)
13 It shall come to pass in that day that a great panic from the LORD will be among them. Everyone will seize
the hand of his neighbor, and raise his hand against his neighbor's hand… (Zechariah 14:13)
4 In that day," says the LORD, "I will strike every horse with confusion, and its rider with madness; I will open
My eyes on the house of Judah, and will strike every horse of the peoples with blindness. (Zechariah 12:4)
XVI. END-TIMES NORTHERN ARMY AGAINST BABYLON (JEREMIAH 50:3, 9, 26, 41, 46; 51:27, 48)
9 I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country, and
they shall array themselves against her; from there she shall be captured. (Jeremiah 50:9)
3 For out of the north a nation comes up against her (Babylon), which shall make her land desolate, and no
one shall dwell therein. (Jeremiah 50:3)
41 "Behold, a people shall come from the north, and a great nation and many kings shall be raised up from the
ends of the earth. 42 …They are cruel…against you, O daughter of Babylon. (Jeremiah 50:41-42)
48 Then the heavens and the earth and all that is in them shall sing joyously over Babylon; for the plunderers
shall come to her from the north," says the LORD. (Jeremiah 51:48)
A. There is a holistic system between the two cities as the Babylonian economics supplies the religious headquarters in
Jerusalem first through the Harlot religion then through the Antichrist religion. Yet, Babylon always resists the intolerant
control of the Antichrist.
B. The inner circle of power military leaders like Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Napoleon, Hitler and Stalin were
initially supported with enthusiasm until later when they were despised and strongly resisted by their inner circle.
XVII. THE UNFULFILLED PROPHECIES ABOUT BABYLON
A. The ancient city of Babylon will be rebuilt on the Euphrates River in Iraq, or about 50 miles south of Baghdad
(Isaiah 13-14; 47; Jeremiah 50-51; Revelation 17-18).
3 For out of the north a nation comes up against her, which shall make her land desolate, and no one shall dwell
therein…4 "In those days and in that time," says the LORD, "The children of Israel shall come…with continual
weeping they shall come, and seek the LORD their God…13 Because of the wrath of the LORD she shall not
be inhabited, but she shall be wholly desolate. Everyone who goes by Babylon shall be horrified and hiss at all her
plagues. 23 How the hammer of the whole earth has been cut apart and broken! How Babylon has become a
desolation among the nations!...26 Come against her…and destroy her utterly; let nothing of her be left…39 It
shall be inhabited no more forever, nor shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation. 40 As God overthrew
Sodom and Gomorrah…," says the LORD, "So no one shall reside there, nor son of man dwell in it.”
(Jeremiah 50:3-4, 13, 23, 26, 39-40)
26 You shall be desolate forever…37 Babylon shall become a heap…an astonishment and a hissing, without
an inhabitant…43 Her cities are a desolation, a dry land and a wilderness, a land where no one dwells,
through which no son of man passes. 49 As Babylon has caused the slain of Israel to fall, so at Babylon the
slain of all the earth shall fall…64 Babylon shall sink and not rise from the catastrophe that I will bring
upon…(Jeremiah 51:26, 37, 43, 49, 64)
