-Every miracle Jesus performed, He performed as a man under auspices of Holy spirit in         faith that                         God would

and could not be compromised and every step he took He was not walking on the water.  He was walking on the promises
of God.
-When we “decide” we want that more than necessary food, we will realize we have been playing                                 church

AFFLICT - Afflict your souls – well indicated the spiritual aim of fasting.  As the principal source of sin is the gratification
of bodily appetites, the fast is to demonstrate to the sinner that man can conquer all physical cravings, that the spirit can
always master the body.  The abstention from all food and from gratification of other bodily desires must be accompanied
by deep remorse at having fallen short of what it was in our power to be and to do as members of the House of Israel.
Without such contrite confession, accompanied by the solemn resolve to abandon the way of evil, fasting in itself is not
the fulfillment of the Divine command and purpose of the Day of Atonement.  Repentance, prayer and beneficence can
change the whole current of a man’s life and destiny and lead to perfect atonement.  (Penn & Haft)
•        Afflict your souls – fasting – the intensest form of devotion and contrition

ever said, “Amen, I say unto you” for it is the language peculiar to God, who avers by Himself.  The New Testament
formula “Amen, I say unto you” is equivalent to the Old Testament formula, “as I live, says Jehovah”.  In John’s Gospel
alone He uses the double “amen” which we translate “verily, verily”.  Amen expresses the unchangeable truth of His
promises.

AMORITES - defeating kings of picture of conquering the flesh
--Genesis 15:16 - iniquity of:  postponement of the penalty indicates Divine forbearance.  God would give them full
time to repent.  Meanwhile, the gradually accumulating guilt of the Amorites rendered dire punishment inevitable.  God’s
prescience was certain that their hearts were forever turned from Him.
--Genesis 15:13-16 – God tells Abraham you’re going to be the father of a great nation.  However, there is one little
set back.  Your people are going to go into slavery for 400 years – into Egypt (a foreign land) into slavery for 400 years.
And the Lord doesn’t give the whole counsel of God, but one little sliver of His counsels – one reason you’re going to go
into slavery for 400 years – there are several reasons (very important ones) – because the land of Canaan that you are
going to inherit, the sin of the Amorites (the people living in Canaan) will not be mature for 400 more years.  And in My
righteousness (is the idea – He didn’t say this), I will not – I will not – drive them out of the land until their sin is ripe and
justice demands they’re driven off of the land.  And He says it will take 400 years.  Abraham tells Sarah, “Sarah, our kids
– our great grandkids – are going into slavery for 400 years because the land God promised us we can’t have it in justice
and in truth and in righteousness until the sin of the resident people reaches maturity and reaches heaven.”  That is what
Revelation 18:5 is talking about.  The sins of the entire planet will reach heaven like the sin of the Amorites reached
heaven and the earth will demand the justice of God, will demand action in full wrath.

AMORY - a place stored up weapons for war (SOS 4:4) - a resolute will to obey God

AMPLIFIED - Someone said this version is for the hearing impaired

AMUSEMENT - Why is it that the world needs so much amusement?  Because its people need these many stimulations

with alcohol.

heaven’s telecommunications.  He brought word to Mary concerning the birth of Jesus.  He appeared to Zachariah
regarding John the Baptist’s birth.  And he spoke to Daniel about end-time prophecy.  Michael is the warrior angel.

ANGER - root of anger is thinking we are right and everyone else is wrong
--impulsive response to the experience of being deprived
--when my sense of self depends on what others say of me, anger is a quite natural reaction to a critical world
--weeping is part of grief process.  When you refuse to weep, you end up in rage and anger.  You then direct                 your anger
towards the object of what represents the opposite of what you want:  freedom (MC)
--a state of mind arising from a sense of violated justice or obstructed agenda.  It permeates our beings,                         affecting our
emotions, bodies, and every other part of us.  It releases two adrenalines in our bodies to intensify our responses when
we feel threatened.
--Ephesians 4:26-27 states it is not always sin.  Only when it goes underground awaiting the event that will release
its violent explosion is it sin.  Anger cannot be left to simmer without giving the devil an open door.
--Three kinds of offenses of anger:
             1.  Anger against a man accompanied with some injurious act
             2.  Contempt - expressed by the opporbrious ephithet with verbal terms like fool or worthless

             3.  Burnt alive - in hell fire
--basic selfishness that is usually the result of feeling that our rights or interests were somehow violated
--Beware lest we try to understand the life and nature of the Lord with our old life and nature.  Being so full of the
flesh we cannot utter weighty words.  Even if we say them, there is no power.  We voice them only when we get angry.
This is what our old life and nature is.  How different it is with the Lord!  When He says these weighty words, He is not
angry at all.  He could say these things and still pray.  Thus it proves that when voicing such strong words, His heart was
still full of the love of God.  His fellowship with the Father had not been interrupted, and His heart continued to be filled
with thanksgiving.  (Nee)  Matthew 11:20-24
--Anger is the defense mechanism of pride, works to keep us from having to face our fallenness and resists our
need for correction.  Anger aimed outward is outbursts of rage and control.  Anger aimed inward is depression and self-
hatred. (AH)
•        Mistreatment exposes the great enemy of our soul:  price manifesting in anger.  The crucible places pressures on

--Hebrew rod for anointed = Messiah
--Every believer anointed to ministry of reconciliation (2 Cor 5:18)

--what would you do with double portion?
--to get more anointing, give it out and the anointing will increase
--when first receive anointing it is to minister to you personally so God can change you and then it is to be given                 out

-level of anointing depends on level of hunger in the heart
             -God plans levels of anointing

     3.  Its effect on the Creator:  “And the Lord repented that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His
heart”.  (Genesis 6:6)  The word “repent” always describes a change in something.  There is a sense in which God
cannot change.  He is always God, omnipotent and eternal.  There is a sense in which He changes His purposes toward

•        Note that the initiative in atonement is with the sinner.  He cleanses himself on the Day of Atonement by fearless
self-examination, open confession, and the resolve not to repeat the transgressions of the past year.  When our
Heavenly Father sees the abasement of the penitent sinner, He – and not the High Priest or any other Mediator –
sprinkles, as it were, the clean waters of pardon and forgiveness upon him.  (P&H)

1.        His self-existence and eternity in the name Jehovah
2.        His dominion of glory and blessedness in the kingdom of heaven
3.        His providence and bounty in the earth
The meaning of the oath seems to be this:  “As God is unchangeable in His nature and purposes, so shall I be in this
engagement, under the penalty of forfeiting all expectation of temporal prosperity, the benefits of the mystical covenant,
and future glory.”
        Glorious in holiness – the essential distinguishing attribute of the God of Israel  - Exodus 15:11
            13 attributes of God (Exodus 34:6, 7)

7.        Abundant in kindness
8.        Abundant in truth

10.        Forgiver of iniquity
11.        Forgiver of willful sin
12.        Forgiver of error
13.        God who cleanses
        The revelation of God’s moral attributes of love and mercy is the source of the sublime principle of the
“Imitation of God”.  This Jewish ideal, ‘one of the most advanced triumphs of religion’ goes back to the Divine
demand in Leviticus 19:2 “Ye shall be holy:  for I the Lord your God am holy’.  Israel is not only to serve God, but
to imitate Him.  Mortal man, however, cannot imitate God’s infinity, omnipotence or eternity.  That side of His nature,
which is beyond human comprehension, is also beyond human imitation.  But we can know His goodness and we
can follow His ways of mercy and forgiveness.

AUTHORITY - what one in authority does, even a heathen, either blesses or afflicts all the people
--For I also am a man set under authority  Luke 7:8
--”The works I do are done by the Father in Me.  I ask the Father to tell Me what to speak.  Whatever I do, I am                 under total
authority of the Father in me”  John 5:36; 14:10,11
--M. Hickey:  If you want to move in authority in the Word, if you want to take the Word as authority over                         circumstances,
you yourself must come under the authority of that Word.  The Word has to be your  total authority.
--There is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Romans 13:1
--Spiritual authority is a burden to be borne; with authority comes responsibility
--Adam’s authority caused the whole world to suffer.  The more authority you walk in, the more people will                         suffer from
your mistakes.
--Order of evil authority (Ephesians 6:12)

AUTOMOBILE - often represents a person’s individual ministry

AWAKENING – a time of such intense visitation that both the Christian and non-Christian communities are affected (A revival could be
described as a visitation of God’s Spirit on God’s people; revivals alter the lives of individuals, awakenings alter the world view of a whole
people or culture) (Ireland’s Lost Heritage)

AWESOME - Moses called God “great, mighty, and awesome God” (Deuteronomy 10:17, but Daniel left off might.
Jeremiah left off awesome (because awesome refers only to Temple and the Temple was destroyed).  Daniel said
awesome because of deeds they experienced.  Didn’t say mighty because heathens enslaved His children so where
were His mighty deeds?
